This position was at Subway World Headquarters, and I applied for it directly from their website. I was contacted less than one week later by a woman in HR asking if I'd like to come in for an interview. The interview consisted of meeting with two separate people 1:1. First, I met with an HR rep, who directed me to a tiny room with a computer. She asked me to sit and complete an assessment test within a certain period of time. She left the room and I started the test, which consisted of basic math and vocab questions. After I finished this portion, the HR rep came back and then asked if I could complete a personality assessment on the computer as well. Once I completed that, the HR rep came back and conducted a short interview with me. After that interview, she said she'd take me to the manager hiring for the open position. I met with the manager in a separate conference room for a much longer period of time, and I felt like it went very well. I was told to be patient while they finish up with interviews, and I left the interview feeling confident that I did well. I sent thank you notes to both of them right afterward, and then made a follow-up call to the manager two weeks afterward. She said they were still finishing things up, and to be patient a little longer. Later that week, I got an e-mail that said thanks but no thanks. I felt like I was a top contender, but as we all know there's a lot of competition out there, and the manager had mentioned to me that some internals had interviews lined up so who knows.
