      Director Interview

      9 Dec 2022
      Anonymous interview candidate
      Boston, MA
      No offer
      Positive experience
      Average interview

      Application

I applied online. I interviewed at The Nature Conservancy (Boston, MA) in Nov 2022

      Interview

It was an initial phone screen. The recruiter was friendly and the questions were basic. She did a good job of describing the position and described the process well including next steps. Good impression of their HR staff so far. Hoping to hear back.

I interviewed at The Nature Conservancy

      Interview

First I had a quick zoom with the hiring manager, then a panel interview with 2 people who would be my peers. I didn't advance after that round, but they were incredibly nice and respectful. When I was notified that I wouldn't advance, it was an email from the hiring manager that offered to have a call with me if I'd like to debrief.

      Director Interview

      28 Jan 2025
      Anonymous interview candidate
      No offer
      Negative experience

      Application

I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at The Nature Conservancy

      Interview

Interview process includes a written questionnaire, 30 minute conversation with either HR or hiring manager, 2nd round with a panel, 3rd round with another panel. After putting time to do the write-up and prepare for each panel interview, it was frustrating to see that the panelists themselves weren't prepared to conduct an interview. The first panel included people who didn't really work together and couldn't speak to any program priorities or answer in-depth questions. Panelists were distracted during the interview. The hiring manager couldn't provide a hiring timeline. There were no follow-up questions to any of my answers and they were just following a script. After being one of the final candidates and presumably good enough to be seriously considered for the position, my application was passed off to a random HR person who wasn't a part of the process and I got an email saying they're not moving forward several days after their intended reply date. All in all not a terrible experience, but indicative of how much (or little) the org values their employees and potential hires.
