I interviewed at The Washington Post

      Interview

Applied online, had a screener with a recruiter that went well. They set up time to interview with the hiring manager. On the call was a hiring manager and some sort of third party consultant which took me aback as I wasn't expecting someone else on the call. It was a really weird interview experience, They asked me to answer questions using the STAR method - which is pretty typical but then didn't ask questions that could be answered using STAR. Some of the questions were just odd - and were not at all what I would prepare for in an interview. The hiring manager clearly didn't want to be there as they were pretty gruff and would cut off answers. When it came to the end of the interview they pretty much hung up on me before I could ask any final questions. On the bright side I came away fulling knowing I wouldn't want to work for this person so when they ghosted me after that I wasn't too broken up about it.
