I applied through a recruiter. I interviewed at TikTok (Mountain View, CA) in Apr 2021
Interview
Recruiter sent me a company brochure and asked me to read before the interview - I am surprised to find there are some obvious typos. The company value is phrased in a cold and tough tone.
Recruiter was not responsive to my questions throughout the interview process.
Out of the 3 people I interviewed with, one interviewer went over for 20 min without asking me if that was ok and had the next interviewer stand by in the zoom room. She did not leave any time for me to ask questions either. It gives me the impression that they do not respect people's time and that going over meeting time without consent is a norm.
When she talked about TikTok’s company culture, I got "long hours; expect international calls; if you like to work with established processes, this is not the place for you; What takes 1 month to do can be asked to be turned around in a day (which I thought is not realistic)" I appreciate the honesty, but what about collaboration and support and why is it a good team of people to work with? I was surprised that no positives were mentioned on the “culture” discussion. She also conveyed this in a condescending tone that “TikTok is not for everyone” which gives me the impression that they treat people more like machines than human beings.
As they are expanding rapidly, you may be the first person they are hiring into the role. I don’t think my experience communicated in the interview were understood because the interviewers have not worked with such role before.

Out of all the broker/consulants you worked with, what are your comments about each.
Initial screening call, followed by one or two structured interviews with key stakeholders. Process assesses technical skills, problem-solving, cultural fit, and alignment with role responsibilities, often including case studies or practical exercises.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at TikTok (Dublin, Dublin) in Apr 2025
Interview
Fair, transparent and friendly. However, a prolonged process. Personable, but a lot of the time repetitive. Seems like a lot of change which is fine, but the role description and business area kept changing throughout the process. Very slow to respond, so could have been a lot more candidate-experience focused.

Question 1
Previous global experience within a tech org with large scale workforce.
The process was fast but the recruiter was not friendly at all and somehow she was rude. She asked me questions and she didn’t let me finishing my answers. Super cold and formal. Now I understand more about Tik Tok culture and it seems not flexible at all!
