Had two rounds of interview. One with the acquisition team via phone call for a brief introduction about the role and getting to know, which was great. The team is professional and give me a feeling that he is very proud of the firm, which makes me feel at ease.
2nd round were with two of the members from the legal team where your future department will be (if you are successful), questions asked were like following a script (which seems expected as they may not have much experience interviewing candidate, I would have thought the head of department would attend the interview but seems like that's for the 3rd round).
The interview claim to be done within 30 minutes. So it started off with some basic introductions which lasted only 5 minutes. The rest of the 25 minutes seems like they are just asking question for the sake of fulfilling the interview time and the sake of asking. Some questions asked is not really related to the role you are applying for and is just weird. They also asked if you know anything about ByteDance and TikTok, when you replied what you know, the conversation just ends there, they never bother to explain to you what they know so the whole interview only leaves you hanging in the air. They also tend to repeat their questions that you have already answered so it clearly shows that they were not really listening to you during the interview and just trying to hold as much as possible so it hits 30 minutes.
Some questions they asked were like define fast paced and when I say I am a fast learner, they will ask you question like, "can you prove to me how you are a fast learner..", like dude, how do you even explain??
my two cents worth - Tiktok should get someone of the higher authority or someone more experienced to conduct interview.
