I applied through an employee referral. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at TrueCar (Santa Monica, CA) in Aug 2014
Interview
The interview process took about 5 weeks and involved 4 interviews. I did not live in the area so most of this was remote (phone/Skype). The first interview was with the in-house recruiter, this was really just a quick overview and screening. After that I spoke with a product dev manager. We chatted for a bit, I was asked a few questions to make sure I knew my stuff. After the second interview I was given a programming assignment. It was easy but open ended enough to allow you to go above and beyond. The third interview was a Skype with a group of developers from the product development department where we reviewed the homework assignment. The fourth and final interview was on-site (they flew me in) and with mostly the same group as the third.
Overall I felt the process was rigorous but fair. I want to work with the best, smartest people in the field. If you want the same be patient and work hard on this interview process. You will be rewarded on the other end.

Question 1
"Explain the HTTP request-response cycle in as much detail as you possibly can." This question is great, I wasn't expecting it though.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at TrueCar in Aug 2022
Interview
I thought the interview process was very practical. There was a general technical interview and 2 technical interviews where we did live programming. I think the problem set was pretty realistic and it was really enjoyable working with the team members on them.
Thanks for the feedback. Our team has worked hard to optimize the interview process and streamline to drive down the time between steps. Thank you for interviewing with us!
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 week. I interviewed at TrueCar in Feb 2022
Interview
The most awkward process I ever seen. Rude guy. Asked for my current salary information many times, even though I told him I dont wanna say it, just to low ball me and he threatened me that they gonna do a salary history check, which is ILEGAL!
Interview questions [1]
Question 1
Asked about experience and how do I rate my skills from 0 to 10.
Our team never asks for current compensation for a variety of reasons, but outside of legality, it's irrelevant in our decision-making. What we are concerned with is what your compensation needs are in a new role - we want to be certain not to waste candidate or hiring team time if your ask is outside of our scoped range.
I applied through a staffing agency. I interviewed at TrueCar (Los Angeles, CA) in Mar 2020
Interview
Interview cancelled last minute by the company. I initially went through TripleByte. They had some reorg and decided to cancel the role entirely. Wasted my time in preparation. I guess it happens ... I was just using the interview for practice.
