Recruiter short lists my profile and sets up telephonic round on day 1. No call received at the scheduled time, when enquired, recruiter confirmed initially but changed words later and rescheduled to another day. I could imagine the challenges by my experience. Day 2, I received the call. Interviewer asks to talk about my profile. I explained my qualifications and experience. How it can help the role I am applying for. Interviewer mentioned my experience and qualifications are good. However I was up for a shock. Interviewer asks “Confirm your last name”. I did. He says “Your last name doesn’t match with the profile I have. Also, the experience you are mentioning and Organization you are mentioning is not this profile. Might be recruiter mistake, will give feedback”. The statement he made later totally shocked me. “Since I cannot relate the experience you are mentioning in the profile I have, I cannot put you through to next rounds”. I had sent my CV to the recruiter via email. The qualifications and experience I am mentioning is good, but, because it is not on the profile he’s holding, he cannot put me through next round? Seriously? Logical? Instead of asking to share my profile. He mentioned “Since I cannot relate the experience you are mentioning in the profile I have, I cannot put you through to next rounds”. And this interview was for Sr. Manager position.
