This was the typical interview process for an academic position. Multi-day, all day, meeting with a range of stakeholders. It gives you a good sense of the campus and work environment.

Initial 5 minutes for introduction. Next, I was asked to give a 10-minute presentation on my teaching and research interests. Following this I had 10 minutes of Q&A and discussion.

I was invited to interview and provided overnight lodging, since I came from out of town. I interviewed with about 8 people in the department. Everyone was friendly and I did a presentation on a teaching method I use, which seemed well received. I was then told how the hiring process goes and the timeline to expect to start. I left thinking I was going to receive an offer shortly and even reached back out with a brief thank you email. However, I was never contacted again. Not even any sort of form letter rejection email. Just ghosted. I don’t think it is professional to ghost someone who came from out of town and did a formal in person interview with presentation. I already have an academic position at another school so not getting job is okay but I think that at least deserves an email.
