I applied through an employee referral. I interviewed at Vault (Austin, TX) in Jul 2019
Interview
I was living out of state during my interview process but the Vault team was incredibly flexible and accommodating to that scenario. My interviews all took place over video or phone call. I began meeting with the Operations team, then spoke with an Operations manager twice and then finally had a call with the CEO. Each call lasted between 30 minutes to an hour.
Interview questions [2]
Question 1
How does your former teaching experience make you a good employee in a start up setting?
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Vault (Austin, TX) in Sept 2017
Interview
I was given a design exercise to complete. They gave me a list of tasks/elements that needed to be addressed in an interface design. They liked my design. (I had applied for another position earlier in the year that I didn't get, so they already had met me and had my resume.) A week or two later, I was brought in for interviews. I interviewed with probably 12 different people, some 1 on 1, some 3 or 4 at a time. That lasted for about 4 hours (probably because I talked too much).
I have to say, it was the most thorough interview I've had. I was convinced that they understood exactly who I was and what could and couldn't do.
Over the next two weeks they were interviewing other candidates. About 2-3 weeks after my interview they scheduled a phone call with me. During the call they extended an offer. I started working a week later.
Interview questions [3]
Question 1
What is your design process? (I was asked this multiple times by different people)
I had a first round phone interview that was a mix of formal job interview questions and a relaxed conversation about the company. Then I was asked to do a design challenge.
The second round interview was an in-person, 2 1/2 hour interview. Every 30 minutes I met with a couple different people from the company ranging from top executives to developers. We discussed formal interview questions, the design challenge I completed, my portfolio and my experience.
