Applied online, received an invitation to phone interview a week later. I was super excited to interview! Unfortunately, I found the interviewer seemed rather junior in his interviewing approach, maybe I caught him on a bad/stressful day, but he did not appear to have reviewed my experience or even seem interested in interviewing me which ultimately led me extremely disappointed in my highly anticipated interview with Verkada. While I was asking typical questions at the end of the call, the recruiter informed me that he thought my experience did not align with the role. I was a bit taken back by this because my experience length, depth of responsibilities and values paralleled the description of the role and company--- this was also highlighted on my resume which I assumed would’ve been screened beforehand. I wasn’t given a clear understanding where my experience didn’t fit in with Verkada. Unfortunately, this type of interviewer costs companies’ perfectly good candidates. Prejudgments for positions they have no experience in themselves leads to biased views and ultimately, a loss of a perfectly good candidate.
