Versus Systems interview questions

After a positive first round interview with HR, my second round "design-focused" interview was definitely one of the most awkward of my career. It seemed as if they had made their decision beforehand (that I was not going to be a good fit) and it felt like they were begrudgingly going through the motions to prove a point or something. Possibly a sign of internal politics...? There was a very strange, detached, cold air to the whole conversation. No smile, no warmth, barely a nod, despite my best efforts to lighten the mood and keep the conversation friendly. Interviewing is a delicate art form on both sides of the table and this was terribly uncomfortable. I sincerely hope that Versus management can accept this feedback and improve their designer evaluations and interview skills to make future candidates feel more comfortable than I did.

Spoke with Head of Product & Engineering, VP of Engineering -- positive experiences with both. I could tell they were excellent and really, really cared about maintaining high standards. Did a coding challenge, then came in for an onsite - met all of the engineers. Overall, a positive experience and enjoyed meeting and nerding out. You can tell they're all compelled by their industry and want to succeed.
