Met a member of their senior sales staff at a networking event. Wanted to pick his brain about a series of issues that I had trouble solving at my then current job. Sat down with him for a casual conversation a week later and was asked to come back to interview for a position. HR contacted me shortly thereafter for a phone interview, which was a little strange since I lived 5 minutes from their building and had already met the sales exec. Phone interview went fine, so I was called back a week later to meet their head of professional services. That went swimmingly as well. Came back the week after that for a round-robin with the professional services guy again, the COO (now CEO), and finally one of the founders. Each of these interactions was positive, and the founder told me that I would be a great fit. Fast forward a month and a half: after having contacted HR each week with no response, I receive an email at 10:30 PM on a Sunday telling me that no jobs are available. This was somewhat surprising because two weeks before a contact in the firm made me aware of an enormous hiring push (30 people over the course of several months). A shady and weird experience all around.
