I expressed interest in a position highlighting most if not all of my career interests and matching my advanced level of experience. Both the initial recruiter who contacted me and the subsequent screening interviewer confirmed that I was applying for and interviewing for the position specified on both the social media jobsite and on their company website, and for a specified pay range. The subsequent interviews that took place by Zoom and in person with the management team were very pleasant and professional. However, I was given the news during the Zoom meeting (which I had to confirm again at the in-person interview due to technical difficulties) that I was actually interviewing for another position, an MSR 1 at a significantly lower pay range than was indicated by the recruiters. The managers were very professional, do not get me wrong. They even expressed that they wished I was given more accurate information. I entertained the idea during the interview (I nearly asked, "when can I start?"), asked all the questions a candidate normally asks, considered it overnight (by now I have been through their hiring processs nearly 10 days), but the next day I declined their offer when the recruiter called. Upon reading this, this Company's execs may know it was me and banish me, but this needs to be said. Recruiters should not bait and then switch candidates into positions or even interviews that will not be the right fit! No wonder your JPR hasn't been filled in over 30 days!
