1st step was a phone interview, which was essentially a personality test, asking about your background, your current employer, and why you think you're a good fit.
2nd interview was 1 on 1 with the Sales Director (top dog in sales). Some typical interview questions, some feeler questions t test your background, and some atypical questions to see what type of person you are. Most of the questions are impossible to prepare for, so a great move by the company. At the end, I was handed a sales script to memorize for a 3rd interview. I was also asked to prepare a sales pitch for a random item (pen, stapler, calculator, cell phone, etc). The Sales Director also informs you that they only hire in December and January, and they hire 2-4 people at a time because of their growing business, or to replace other employees.
3rd interview was with the Sales Manager (direct report of Sales Director). You recite the sales script, sell your item, and you are encouraged to asked any last questions (anything at all- Sales, benefits, daily routines, performance indicators, etc). If you get through that, your final interview is with a group.
4th interview was with HR Director, Sales Manager, and Sales Director. I was 1 of 8 candidates. All 8 of us were absolute Sales Professionals, and I know it was a tough decision to see which 4 would get a job offer. There were sales questions, questions about competencies, questions about disciplines that help you succeed, personality questions revolved around movie/animal choices (which one impacted your life/which one you are), and a very cut-throat question (out of the 8 candidates, which one would you hire and why).
