I was recently referred to XM for a technical role, and my experience with their recruitment process was unfortunately quite negative.
The process began with a generic automated email instructing me to complete a coding quiz via the DevSkiller platform. While that's fairly standard these days, the tone was impersonal, and the instruction to "turn on the recording or we will not proceed" felt more like a warning than a professional guideline.
After completing the test, I had a call with HR where we discussed my background and the steps ahead. I was then assigned a technical task that required using a specific framework. I dedicated significant time and effort to deliver a complete solution within the set deadline.
What followed was silence. A week later, I received a brief and generic rejection email with no feedback, no indication of how my submission was evaluated, and no follow-up. After going through multiple stages, including completing a time-consuming coding challenge, this felt dismissive and unprofessional.
For a company that emphasizes excellence, XM's handling of candidates lacks transparency and basic courtesy. At the very least, some form of constructive feedback should be standard practice—especially when candidates invest real time and effort into their process.
I would not recommend engaging with XM unless they significantly improve the way they treat applicants. A more respectful, communicative, and human approach would go a long way.
