    Application Engineer II Interview

    Application

I applied online. I interviewed at Ansys (Cambridge, England) in October 2020.

    Interview

The hiring process includes at least 3 rounds of interview.

I personally went through only two stages; that is, a 30-min phone call with HR and a 1-hour interview with 4 individuals (managers and engineers).

The HR was not particularly polite, giving me a bad impression of the work environment at Ansys (Cambridge, UK).

The second interview I think went well as I prepared for it quite a lot. Please, note that with no prior preparation the interview, in the way it was conducted, can be a disaster.
The technical questions were fairly easy, but what is more important for this role is addressing behavioural questions in the way the panel wants.
The interviewers insisted quite a lot on details, sometimes using their fancy imagination to interpret my answers. That is alright, but if this is the attitude, then they should not expect anyone to be honest and state the truth in the way I did. Hiring persuasive speakers does not equate to hire good candidates.

After the interview, I received no feedback and the recruitment process just vanished.
Despite my strong interest in what the company does, I personally would not apply again as 1) applications are highly competitive, 2) the recruitment process is quite demanding 3) I have not seen any effort from the other side to interact and keep in touch with the candidate in a professional manner and 4) life is too short to spend time in this way for a job.
I felt like I was just a number for them and I am happy to have not advanced further with the application.
