    Pros

You'll never work with a more close-knitted, intelligent and thoughtful group of people ever again. Colleagues at the Foundation are there truly cause they want to make the world a better place.

    Cons

Given the nature of the organization, it is difficult to push through innovation. While not political in operations at all, the Foundation has had to remain rather rigid in it's operational goals as of late while dealing with the press

    Advice to Management

Approach staff with greater empathy. Enable mid-level managers to provide skills training to new staff, many of whom this is their first job.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Clinton Foundation (New York, NY (US)) in February 2019.

    Interview

I only ever communicated with a hiring manager, did not meet with anyone or speak with anyone from HR. The process was a little slow. I had a preliminary interview over the phone and a work sample was requested. I spent time in tailoring my portfolio and then didn't hear back for several weeks. I came in eventually to meet five or six members of the team. Most of the interviews went well, but a few people were distracted or didn't seem entirely prepared. It did seem like they made their decision before I came in as the person who had done the phone screen chose not to interview me or ask about how everything went. They kind of forgot I was there. I was told a decision would be made in the next week or so. I never heard back, even after a follow up email. If you're going to take up more than two hours of someone's work day to interview, a little courtesy is expected. A follow up email to say you went in a different direction wouldn't hurt. The process could use some professionalism.

    Interview Questions

    • They asked about my experience but also wanted critiques on what they were already doing. To me, this is the type of question that sets interviewees up to fail. You're asking an outsider, who is trying to impress to be harsh on their future employer?! Also, you're asking for free expertise.   Answer Question
