Indústrias Romi supplies implements to run a technological society. The company makes industrial manufacturing products such as machine tools, including metal cutting and removal machines (lathes); plastic injection molding machines (Romi and Sandretto brands); and cast iron parts. Among its clients are vehicle, consumer goods, and agricultural and industrial equipment makers. Romi sells its products across Brazil through more than 30 branches and sales offices; it also has a network of distributors around the globe. Américo Emílio Romi founded the company in 1930 from an automobile repair shop in São Paulo. Romi tried and failed to buy US-based machine tool maker Hardinge in 2010.
