At Stepping Stones Care, we want to make a positive difference in every child’s life. Our mission is to help young people thrive, to achieve the very best they can and to be happy. Our dedicated staff teams aim to make a difference, however big or small, to children’s lives every single day.
Our teams are kind, nurturing people who all understand the importance of creating a family atmosphere within our homes. We laugh together and we celebrate achievements together. When there are setbacks, we pick each other up and go again. Our Young People know that they can rely on us to be there through the good days and the tough times.
We help each Young People learn to understand and manage the impact of any experience of trauma and abuse. We also support our Young People to develop resilience and skills to prepare them for a return home, a move into foster care or to live independently as an adult.
Our aim is to support Young People to take control of their lives and make positive choices for their future. We know that Young People who are supported to access great activities (that they really enjoy!) are less likely to make negative choices and engage in negative behaviour.
We support all our Young People to pursue their hobbies and interests, giving them access to positive, age appropriate peer groups in which to make friends. We all need a friend!
In the homes, we work to build attuned relationships with our Young People so they know we are all on their team, working together to help them lead full and happy lives, giving them the empowerment to make positive choices, enhance confidence and promote independent living skills which will enable them to thrive as they move into adulthood.

OUR CORE VALUES
We believe that all young people deserve to live in a safe and nurturing environment, cared for by a dedicated staff team, who are experienced and well trained.
We are successful in providing an environment that young people can anchor too, developing a strong sense of belonging and make the necessary changes to their behaviours and outlook on life.
This very often leads to a positive transition from our homes, to either foster, independent living or back to their family and friends.
We are proud to celebrate many successful years since 2002, in the residential care sector, and look forward to enabling many more young lives in achieving a better and more promising future.
Ruskin Mill Trust is a leading independent provider of innovative and experiential education for young people with special learning needs. Our unique educational method has been inspired by the ideas of Rudolf Steiner, William Morris and John Ruskin.

Our goal is clear: to allow every child in our care to experience childhood, build self-esteem and accept themselves, helping their journey into adulthood.
All of our children’s homes provide the highest quality care and substitute parenting for children who experience a range of behavioural and emotional difficulties.
We recognise the importance of investing in and retaining exceptional staff teams. With Compass, you can build your career with our industry-leading training, specialist independent consultations and clear progression pathways. The culture is based on family values of respect, care and education.
