Spring Air International (SAI) is calling you to bed. The successor of mattress maker Spring Air Company, SAI controls the Spring Air brand globally. The newly formed firm has about 10 licensees in the US and about 10 abroad. The original Spring Air was founded in 1926 by mattress innovator Francis Karr, who introduced an offset coil that adjusts to sleepers' weights. It merged with its largest licensee, Florida-based Consolidated Bedding, and folded in other licensees in 2007. In May 2009 the company abruptly ceased operations and in June emerged under new ownership and management as SAI. Spring Air brand products are sold worldwide through furniture retailers, department stores, and bedding stores.
