Lucky and Grateful to Have Found AORN

Pros

Employees are genuinely happy to be here and -- regardless of length of service -- share my same sentiment of gratitude for joining this organization. Everyone I've worked with across departments are truly collaborative, supportive, welcoming, and helpful. They genuinely want you to succeed. It is also a fully remote position in a place where they really trust their employees to work remotely. People treat each other with respect, and the Executives set a great example in having trust and confidence in their employees. They treat you like an adult and expect you to act like one (something that is not a given everywhere). I am so happy to be working with truly creative people. Also, great pay and fantastic benefits. So many people here have been here for years an years, and within a few months you get an understanding of why. I also have a manager who cares very much about my work-life balance, and I do not take that for granted.

Cons

Not really a con, more like a challenge, but it does take a long time to fully understand the scope of all products and solutions that AORN offers. There is just so much to wrap your mind around. But I think it's just part of the job, not a con.

Laid-back environment but poor culture

Pros

Decent benefits. Flexible work arrangement (after being there a few months) so you can work from home occasionally or shift your hours to fit your schedule.

Cons

Many older employees are just coasting in cushy jobs until they can retire, with very little incentive to produce good work. Persistent culture of not allowing the experts to be experts and do their jobs – micromanaging and overruling are commonplace. Deadlines are rarely met and work is often substandard; the "worker bee" employees are left to fix the mistakes of the higher-ups.

Pros

good benefits, lots of employee engagement

Cons

no room for advancement, and favoritism is so rampant its impossible to get assistance with it, HR will tell you to talk to that person directly, making everything very difficult
