Pros

Fully remote Very accommodating for long term personal issues, own/family health problems etc. Great people who are all supportive, friendly and helpful. Company has good products and the future looks secure and stable.

Cons

The company tells you not work out of hours yet every senior manager works crazy long hours, often 6 or 7 days a week. CTO is a great guy and deservedly well liked, but often way too involved in the minutae of the other technical teams which makes them feel untrusted. Everything is Microsoft. Except Zendesk: which everyone who uses it complains about and hates. Undefined progression plan for staff. Some staff get internally blacklisted by management for (seemingly) minor mistakes that prevent them from ever progressing or developing and makes them always "tarnished". Some teams (i.e. mine) felt like they had constantly shifting goalposts. New rules, new plans, new demands from management to change how we worked.

Pros

Had a fantastic time working at ActiveOps as had a great team around me, opportunity to build processes and maintain ownership and autonomy.

Cons

Senior management is patronising and will acknowledge all of your hard work until you ask for a justified raise. Typical tech hierarchy with almost entirely white men running the upper levels which ultimately shows in the lack of diversity and decision making.

Pros

Remote working Company benefits Great tech

Cons

They’ve pigeonholed an otherwise epic piece of tech into a narrow FSI silo. There’s little appreciation for how formidable it could be if they reached out and diversified. The “sales” team are mostly ex-bankers — strong on renewals and relationship management, but with little grasp of true sales. Leadership is heavy on MDs and CEOs but light on growth mindsets. They’re happy to let the sales team set the narrative, which encourages open dialogue and a pleasant atmosphere, but the reps tend to be negative and the leadership simply accept it.
