Pros

At the time the team I worked with were great people, liked my boss (3rd boss in the span of as many years). The sewers are awesome and (back then) would host breakfasts for entire design rooms.

Cons

Ridiculous tantrums thrown by owner/CEO, lots of family and old family friends in high positions, even HR is family so if you complain be aware that it will be taken with a grain of salt AND everyone will be informed about your complaints. This company is CHEAP. Like really cheap. As in the salary you get hired it is more than likely the salary you will leave with years later. Super long hours, mandatory Saturday work days week of market, regardless of your title if you are in design you are coming in for the day. Also SUNDAY work on April and October markets, so yup you will be working a span of up to 12 straight days and if you are salary you will not be compensated (unless a complimentary lunch is compensation enough for you). Endless politics between all that family and family friends mentioned earlier. Juniors design room is a nightmare full of ego's and cattiness. All in all I came and went by my own means, I wasn't fired and I am not a disgruntled ex-employee. Im simply stating the facts that this is an intense work environment that I would NEVER recommend anyone I know to apply for. If mental abuse, long hours and screaming don't bother you, this might be the perfect fit for you. I wish there was a negative 1 star rating.

Favoritism, No Clear Direction, Big Attitudes...

Pros

There are some decent people who genuinely want to get the job done correctly, a more structured coding system has been implemented to try and get POs and development all on the same page, and end of the year parties that bring th company a smidgen closer together.

Cons

First let's begin with the management. About 80% of the management holding people at Self Esteem are full of attitude and last minute urgency. This company oozes with favoritism to their "old dogs" whom have been with the company for a long time and a few people who are great at sucking up and throwing others under the bus after stealing their ideas. Don't get me wrong, its great to have people who have been with the company for so long, but not if the company is not doing well and those people do not want to change their ways....even for the better. A lot of the planning is thrown out the window until the last moment of the deadline meaning strain one the lower level employees. In relation to bad planning, bad "hiring" often occurs. People are hired who do not know what they are doing a lot of the time, nor are they qualified. These people are often the people who rise in the ranks faster by mooching off of the hardworking employees amd stealing the lime light and well, faking it to make it...thus creating more unqualified management positions.

Pros

AAA has some great, hard-working individuals that are dedicated to the success of AAA's product lines. There are several awesome people here that would be of great value in any organization they work for.

Cons

I am amazed at the success of the company despite the glaring impediments to morale and self-inflicted obstacles to efficiency. People hired to accounting that cannot use Excel, part-time accounting clerks that keep paperwork in drawers rather that enter as open payables, phone and copier contract bids not reviewed because of disinterest, profanity directed at personnel of PA system, lack of communication from management until last minute regarding matters requiring overtime, blaming IT personnel for China internet blackouts, not setting expectations and reprimanding for what would have been impossible expectations, management only recognizes the length of a day when overtime needs to be paid, etc. Not a rant, but facts that can be supported by any and every employee past of present willing to do so.
