Pros

I work in the New Mexico office. Being remote from headquarters, I could see some employers either trying to micromanage to make sure I'm "doing my job" or ignoring me to let me float out in the abyss. Neither is the case. I am treated like a true professional. Get my work done and keep my customer happy, and my management is happy. I am also in regular communication with my management and technical coworkers in order to create a coordinated focus in our various projects. The management is very employee-oriented and, from what I have seen, their decisions focus on what is best for the employees, not just the bottom line (recognizing that the bottom-line is important for employee’s welfare). The owners have an excellent balance of business and technical expertise. From the owners on down, employees are free to get their job done without burden, and also encouraged to pursue their ideas and professional development. Writing papers and attending conferences is encouraged and supported. While having a tight focus on aerospace engineering in the space sector, the breadth of ADS employees within the sector is astounding, given company’s small size. ADS has some of the brightest folks I've worked with (which is saying something) doing applied research, development, transition, integration, all the way through operations, resulting in a unique, agile feedback loop to ensure our work is relevant and cutting-edge.

Cons

The company is not employee owned. That said, they do offer a profit-sharing incentive program, which allows employees to have some stake in the business.

Pros

The company is on the cutting edge of the aerospace industry. This means that I was able to work on large projects where I was able to see the benefits of my work. The company is very good about training (I have been here for about 4 months and have already worked on a number of projects) which is mainly due to the friendly environment that I have noticed while working here. Flex time is another pro, allowing me to work late some days and leave early on others. The atmosphere still has that "small business" feel, while maintaining an impressive track record of projects. Overall, I would recommend ADS to anyone in the aerospace field who wants to actually face new and interesting challenges that you don't necessarily see in larger companies.

Cons

Some large projects require extra work outside of "normal" hours. This can mean long hours when projects start to pick up.

Pros

I could not be happier with my decision to join ADS. Each year the entire Company gets together for info. sharing and to meet new employees. It is amazing to see how 50 people can accomplish so much. Everyone is cool and welcoming. The leadership team consists of realists who lead by example and reward exemplary work with innovative and fair compensation structures. There is no holding someone back here. The team is dynamic and synergistic in nature. Everyone makes each other better. Oh, and free food and drinks is a nice gesture everyday. Bottom line is, the CEO and Leadership Team treat everyone as equals and as equals we give our best every day.

Cons

There was a drip in one of the bathroom sinks, but I played with the handle and fixed it in about 3 seconds.
