I have been working at Beamery full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I’ve never worked for a company where employees are so cared for. Beamery genuinely wants us employees to have the best work experience and are constantly implementing new initiatives to make it so. I am supported by my manager and all those I work with. Changes in management over the last few months have benefitted everyone by clarifying the structure and providing strong leadership, and show the commitment the founders have to invest in our growth.

    Cons

    I can’t think of a single con.

I have been working at Beamery full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Top culture, super friendly, no ego's and a chance to really take ownership. A great environment if you are looking for career growth and to be challenged. The company has a great vision, fantastic management, benefits and worklife balance is on point. You really feel valued and recognised for your work here.

    Cons

Not really a con - but be prepared it's a scale-up with a fairly fast paced environment. Saying that, you have all the support and structure in place for this, so it's not a big concern.

I worked at Beamery full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I love my team and cross-functional team. Beamery hires some really smart people... too bad they can't retain them.

    Cons

I’m actually laughing out loud at all of the clearly fake positive reviews and those which have been posted in exchange for promotions/bonuses. What a coincidence that my manager asked my whole team to write a positive review in January and they’re all from that time frame. It’s 2020... people can see through those fake reviews and if you can’t… you’re in for a surprise. If you're a job seeker I'd reach out to an ex Beamery employee to get a first hand account of their experience working here. Or… you can keep reading. The Leadership Team The leadership team (i’m looking at you, VP+) is so politically corrupt that they have completely lost the faith of their teams. The worst part is that there’s nobody to talk to about how you feel because the HR team is just as unapproachable and terrible as the rest. It's a pure bully mentality the way the leadership team will pick on the little guys and literally (I’ve seen it a number of times) ostracize or gang up on individuals, especially individuals who speak up. There have also been a number of concerning leadership departures. There was a CRO that quit after 3 weeks, a Head of Sales that quit after a year and two consecutive Heads of TA that quit after a few months into the role. It seems like the smart ones figure out what a disaster it is here, leave asap, and the rest of the employees are left with trash. Departures If you’re looking for job security and peace of mind this is not the place for you. Employees are often walked out with no warning. There is no such thing as a performance plan or a written warnings at Beamery so if you’re not “in” with the leadership team then you’re constantly paranoid about your job being there the next day. Oh also forget about coaching if you’re struggling. You’ll receive no support. The Culture The culture is awful. We had some pockets of joy within offices and within teams but ultimately whatever trickles down from senior leadership is insincere and emotionless. I honestly don’t think anybody cares at all about their employees. It’s hilarious they’ve tried to push the Netflix message “we’re not a family, we're a team” because you need trust and accountability to be on a team, not whatever this is here. Benefits and Perks I was told there would be advancement opportunities and learning and development opportunities but surprise surprise this isn’t documented anywhere. I’ve learned the most from my peers but the company has absolutely nothing to do with that.

I worked at Beamery full-time for more than a year

    Pros

They hire smart and talent people and the product is forward thinking

    Cons

All ex Beamery employees suffer with what is widely called the 'Beamery PDST'. This company has ruined some very confident and skilled employees and turned them into shadows of their former selves. Your hard work will not be recognized unless you are part of the inner clique or have the ear of one of the founders. Don't be fulled by the positive reviews on here. Some of the employees have been paid to write a positive review and told they will get a bigger bonus if they write a glowing review. My advice is call any ex Beamery employee in the team you want to join, and ask them why they left. It is so sad as the product is cool, does really cool things and they hire really talented people. But these talented people either stay, and you watch them change before your eyes into miserable colleagues who are overworked and burnt out or most people leave either with weeks, or after they are close to a mental break down and realize enough is enough. If you want to leave mentally worse off but for the chance to work on cool projects, ultimately that is your choice. It is so sad to see companies still operating with a dictatorship style leadership, especially when the product has so much to offer and does solve problems many TA team suffer with.

    Beamery Response

    April 14, 2020President

Thank you for feedback - it is taken on board and will be discussed with the team. The DevOps Lead is a key position within the engineering team for which we had high expectations , and I am sorry to hear that you had a negative experience - the last couple of months you had spent with us were a particularly difficult time for both Beamery and much of the world. I genuinely wish you all the best moving forward. Pavel, VP Engineering

I have been working at Beamery full-time

    Pros

You have the opportunity to do some of your best and most impactful work. Netflix has coined the term "We're a team, not a family", and I think it really applies to Beamery. Teams are groups of people who work together in a competitive setting to achieve a common goal. Teams bring on star players who help them rise above the rest. Beamery is a company with superbly ambitious goals, and it takes a high caliber team to achieve them. You get to work with people who truly are top in their industry, and the learning opportunities are large. High growth and fast-paced. You need to thrive in a chaotic yet controlled (an oxymoron, I know) environment. Things move 100 miles per hour and you have to keep up. It can be frustrating, and it can be challenging, but nothing worthwhile is easy.

    Cons

You need a strong backbone to survive here. There are strong personalities who have strong opinions. You need to be able to justify your points and drive them home. This isn't inherently a con, but this can be challenging at times. Push through, ensure you're aligned with the team, ensure the team is aligned with the business, and sometimes be able to disagree and commit.

I worked at Beamery full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - There are a lot of incredibly talented people and a handful of grounded, respectful, helpful people that work at Beamery. - Good salaries. - Nice office and location. - Great company offsite

    Cons

    - If you are not apart of the internal clicks then you probably have no chance of progressing in the company. - They say there’s a budget set aside for employees personal develpoment but when you ask to go on a specific, moderately priced course that will help with your daily tasks the response will always be put aside to discuss at a later date (that never cames). - The people with the most power are the ones responsible for the toxic culture. - Unless you are working 12 hours a day then your efforts are not really noticed. - Staff get dismissed spontaneously with no verbal/written warnings prior. This is obviously a horrible shock for the person getting laid off but even more terrifying for the staff still working there. You just don’t know who will be next. - The Human Resources department.. You need to catch them on a good day (if they are in the office) for a helpful advice They also lack a lot of genuine people skills which gives you nowhere to go for your worries and concerns at work. - I’m not sure if the founders are even aware of the amount of dismissals at Beamery. I know a good few people who are set to leave in the New Year as they lack faith and stability at this place.
