Rethink That Offer

Pros

The negative experience was helpful in my pursuit of a better company. I knew what questions to ask in regards to company culture, CEO experience, and overall business goals.

Cons

If you are here reading these reviews, you are either considering a position with the company or are considering applying for a role. This review is to help you make an informed decision from someone who was at BeautyBio for a year and did not have a good experience. First I will give you a background on the CEO. A good leader understands the contributions her employees make and some leaders, do not. The founder of BeautyBio, unfortunately, does not. As an employee, you are there to execute and only execute. The founder will steal ideas, projects, and will claim them as her own, not wanting to give recognition to her hard-working employees. The CEO has no patience. This is not an environment where mistakes can be made. The CEO has a zero margin for error, except when it comes to her own mistakes. You will be reprimanded in forms of public humiliation (witnessed several team members being thrown under the bus and even brought to tears in team meetings) and terrorizing text messages. The repercussions of your mistakes will continue for days, weeks, or even months. You will know she has “forgiven” you once the silent treatment and constant public humiliation has subsided or the abuse has shifted to someone else she is blaming. Lacking real-world professionalism and corporate experience, she is not someone you are going to learn or grow from. Now let’s move onto the products. Not all products are as the CEO claims. Products are developed to deceive customers for the sake of making sales. Practices appear unethical. Curious about what a typical day will look like? A lot of your time is spent making power-points such as post-mortem presentations for when you leave. This is to ensure she has your plans and roadmap knowing that you won’t be there for a long time. Everyone works in the day-to-day, PD, marketing, creative, and retail, this is because everyone must wait for approvals from the CEO. If she is on vacation and can’t reply until 1 a.m., you must be on alert waiting for her approval so you can move forward with your project. You will never be able to get ahead due to the CEO’s micro-management, lack of trust, and need for control, creating chaos and unnecessary “self-inflicted” stress. The strategy management had was to put anything in front of the CEO knowing it was going to change several times because the CEO cannot make a decision, so no need to go the extra mile because there will be last-minute changes. If you read on one of the “positive reviews” that there is room for growth, that is impossible because there is no long-term vision for this brand. Again, everything is so last minute and the CEO lacks a business vision. There is not a brand strategy in place as the CEO dictates and leads the strategy by channel, which explains the confusing pricing and marketing across the brand. You probably also read it is a “fast-paced environment” and “not for everyone.” Fast-paced at BeautyBio means people get fired, let go or leave all the time. This means teammates are constantly changing and everyone is new so everyone is learning, creating a difficult environment to succeed in because no one knows anything. “Not for everyone” means if you can’t take a terrorizing CEO, mentally and emotionally abusing you, then yes, this place is “not for everyone”. The negative reviews written here are not fiction. They were written by individuals, people, humans, who believed in a dream that was sold to them. A dream of an amazing career, opportunities, and having a voice. These individuals are upset, hurt, and traumatized by the abuse they endured while at BeautyBio at the hands of the CEO. These employees are not bitter, but employees who were taken for granted, overworked, lied to, forced to do unethical things, sacrificed personal time, and gave so much with nothing in return. This review was written to help people in search of a better opportunity. As someone who witnessed unethical business practices and employees being taken advantage of, the goal of this review is to give as much transparency to those considering an offer or a position.

Pros

A small few employees were very skilled and professional, and an absolute wonder to work with in such a challenging and mentally exhausting workplace.

Cons

This place gave me high blood pressure. This company is, to date, the most laughable excuse of an attempt at business that I've ever seen. Nearly completely irrelevant in the skincare industry, BeautyBio has somehow curated the most disgustingly toxic environment I've ever had the misfortune to work in. Preaching female empowerment and transparency in company practices, the CEO/Founder does neither. Constantly belittling/overworking/lying to/abusing all employees and causing endless psychological trauma, she has developed an culture of fear and betrayal, encouraging those who look up to her as a leader to partake in childish antics, that'll just transport you right back to grade school. Massive amounts of turnover, CEO looks to blame others for her own obvious mistakes. No privacy, no separation between business and personal life. Texts until the early morning. Unpaid overtime. Doing the same work dozens of times, the same way, over and over and over again for no reason. No gratitude. Nothing. There is nothing redeeming about this company. If you're reading this, and don't work there, don't take any offer they give you. You're wasting your time and causing yourself much more harm than good. There are plenty of companies better that won't treat you like absolute garbage. If you do work there, SERIOUSLY WHY?

Pros

Pros - Everyone is miserable so you have plenty of people to sulk in self misery with.

Cons

I wish one of the 12 people who disappeared my first 10 weeks would have done the courtesy of posting a review before me, but it appears everyone is scared of the monster that is "running" the business . Don’t let the beautiful office fool you, once you’re in it’s more like the gates of hell. If you enjoy reporting to someone who has never climbed a corporate ladder or worked in a business before daddy gave them their own, this is the place for you. Cons - 12 hour days + weekends with NO overtime pay, 20+ texts at 1, 2 and 3 in the morning with a side of you suck at your job, lack of sleep from overtime the above, doing the same project 12+ times (11 of them exactly as asked), being asked to send something you have sent 10+ times, being treated like you are completely and totally incompetent, extreme stress and anxiety and last but not least, absolutely no gratitude.
