Pros

Some smart people trying to do a good job

Cons

BenchSci has lost nearly 20% of its employees since May. Those who can find a new job have quit but most have been fired. Leadership have correctly identified one of the problems at this company, which is nobody knows how to deliver anything of value, and decided the solution was to make people go back to the office and fire a bunch of people to “reduce bureaucracy” whilst keeping all the BS micromanagement reporting requirements the low-trust environment needs. At no point has the CEO or the rest of leadership taken the time to introspect and consider perhaps they contributed to the fact that BenchSci has made zero progress on its mission in the last decade.

Pros

- Being laid off in the current situation. It’s not what someone would hope for career wise and financially, but it’s amazing to not wake up each day and wonder - “is it going to be me today?” - Some amazing people who truly care for you (SLT and CEO - this is not you)

Cons

Everything the reviews have said the last few weeks are true. The culture at BenchSci has progressively gone down to the extent that there will be no return. - People are being laid off sneakily each week so they don’t have to make an announcement publicly, and so they don’t have to pay for group severance. Smartly defying the laws. - The current CTO has acknowledged that this is a terrible way of doing things - and yet as of this day, it is BAU to send out layoff emails on a weekly basis - Incompetent leadership in the customer facing team where the leadership bloated headcount (with approval from SLT of course!), and most of those people have been laid off. - Incompetent leadership has led to this mess and they truly and genuinely DO NOT CARE.

Pros

They have questionable good review for HA process.

Cons

The application process ask questions that are clearly showing they will sell your data and not always spend time reviewing your CV. I assume they have this in their terms by default, so if you care of not being spammed you should not apply. Try using a connection maybe, the HR is clearly a scam.
