Pros

As a small company, there are opportunities to try out a number of roles. However, every role leads to the same frustration and degradation in the end. And the degradation is LOUD and public.

Cons

You know those awkward family gatherings where one family member is completely off the walls and everyone has to politely sip their wine and tiptoe around the elephant in the room? Well, this place is pretty much that dysfunctional and uncomfortable at all times. There is screaming, throwing, ripping, and earthquake grade slamming and shaking. Trying to get actual work done is like being trapped in the Blair Witch Project when they repeatedly wander in circles in the woods and keep finding themselves back in the same spot time and time again and then cry. Guidelines change constantly to the point where you don't even know what you are trying to do anymore and you have to start over and over. And you will probably cry. But, hey, there is wine. Which is necessary, because boundaries here are never clear. Yes, nice food is occasionally catered for employees and many office social events are given. However, as these things creep into the work environment, the work environment eventually begins to creep into personal life. It is as if the next natural step would be to bring your bed into this place. There are no set work hours and employees do come in on weekends. Personal jabs are made as well as many other comments that cross the race, sex, gender, you-name-it propriety line.

Pros

Fast paced environment and higher sense of responsibility, for those who need to always be busy like me. This allowed me to propel into my career and be a better employee. I had the utmost respect and appreciation for the people on my team, creating strong friendships and still communicate with them to this day. Free food every month, the occasional team bonding 'after school' events that are fun and have a nice sense of community. There's a talent show and a halloween party, which are both unique and cool experiences. Holiday party is really nice, they really go all out, and they showcase the success of their members who have been dedicated to the team. Free beer on Thursday evenings, but you they close it up quick. Free parking and travel stipends. Health package is pretty decent. The outlook of the company is pretty positive and I see them doing well for years to come.

Cons

My experience was in the New York office, there are people who work in the sales field and some on the West Cost, so some of the reviews vary based of the location. The negative reviews about one of the owners is very much true and actually fascinating to observe in person. My interview was right next to the owners office where I witnessed the truth behind the negative comments on Glassdoor. I took the job because I needed it and had to further my career. I've dealt with many toxic people in the past and happily never had to deal with the one particular owner. My direct first encounter with this person, she made a terrible comment about me getting fired for not having a name-tag (I was there for 2 hours into my new employment and mine was in the process of being printed). At least once a month, our meetings were 'hijacked' with yelling about topics that were semi-unrelated to our department, creating a log jam for the day. My managers had to deal with this person, I would walk by and hear them getting yelled at and belittled. This toxicity would leak from the top-down and sometimes create a really awful work environment for the rest of the day. This person is passionate and really care about the products, but the message gets diluted with the belittlement of employees. There is an issue with the coats that is so petty. The 'office managers' will come around and interrupt your work (for example: lift your headphones from your head when you are 'in the zone', being productive) to demand that you put your coats in the 'cubby' instead of the back of your chair, like a preschooler. The thing is, the office is filled to the brim with people and there is absolutely no room. What happens if there is an emergency during snow storm and no one can get their coat? Smells like a lawsuit.... I've heard the comment 'you deserve better', more than once in the office, particularly one very sweet lady who was always belittled for trying her best with one of the owners.

Pros

Convenient in Westchester County and not too bad for a reverse commute from NYC. A bit of a hike from New Jersey but some people do it. Many nice coworkers.

Cons

The owners second guess everything, nothing is delegated to you. Never once will they calmly tell you they don't like something, it is always that you are an idiot for not reading their minds, one owner more than the other. There are some people who are favored, it helps to have a connection with family or friends, whereas other people can't get anywhere and are invisible, it doesn't really matter what you have accomplished. There is a whole lot of turnover, basically if they don't like you they will get rid of you and tell you it was for budget reasons but often they will bring someone else in to do the same job. And yes, one of the executives yells "all the time" - not just now and then but there are several waves of yelling a day, it is no way to run a business! It is not a good idea to relocate to get here because chances are you will either get fed up and leave quickly, or you might not make it through the 3 months probation period. They really don't seem to know how to hire, either, as there have been many people that were a bad fit for the job they were doing and were out even before the 3 months. But they have so much turnover even in human resources so maybe that is part of the reason.
