Congratulations! If you are reading this, you are much savvier than I was while contemplating accepting an offer with BevStrat. I had no idea that Glassdoor even existed until, when while employed at BevStrat, I was requested via e-mail by a BevStrat executive to write a review of the company on this site. “Honest and constructive because there are some terrible ones out there”, she wrote. She continued, “I would like to see our social presence heightened. I am not asking for a glowing recommendation. Rather, truth coming from a tenured employee.” I held off because something inside told me to wait.
In my opinion, there is an illness within the company culture at BevStrat. This seems to have been incubated, infected, and kept potent by BevStrat’s founder and CEO Brian Rosen. At some point in time, Rosen was placed (or placed himself) on a pedestal as a beverage industry expert and “savior” of small brands. In my point of view, he is neither - but rather a pillager of them. As a keynote speaker at industry trade shows or during his self-promoting videos on LinkedIn, in narcissistic-like fashion he spews confusing corporate jargon that sounds encouraging and offers small brands faith, value, and optimism that with BevStrat’s assistance they too can be a successful brand. Check for yourself as there seem to be many sad stories and very few [if any] success stories left behind in BevStrat’s wake.
If you are considering a BevStrat sales position, your challenges in the field will be countless starting with a small book of obscure brands that will constantly rotate out and replaced by others. You will be tracked, belittled, micro-managed, and may be requested by Rosen to do tasks that your conscience will question. If you attempt to query anything (especially your complicated bonus calculation or missing expenses), first you will be totally ignored & then, if persistent, branded by Rosen and his corporate devotees as a difficult overpaid child who cannot work independently and one that takes advantage and wastes his payroll dollars in the field. All your hard work and dedication up to that point will be depreciated.
What is common amongst the ex-BevStrat employees that I keep in touch with is that we are all overcome with relief that we are out of that contaminated atmosphere. However, you may discover [as I recently have] that potential new employers in the beverage industry will possibly look at your work history with BevStrat as undesirable. I for one am not only thankful that I am finally out of this company, but that I held off in writing the requested Glassdoor review until now. Best of luck with your continued career search.
