Pros

Awesome problems to solve, mostly fantastic and brilliant people to work with, great location for food, great amounts of time off

Cons

The office is filled with politics: who likes you is more important than the work you do. There is little room for growth if you already don't have >10 years experience or a Ph.D. Communication to the employees from management about expectations and boundaries are awful. The company is much more sales oriented then Engineering/Product driven The pay is low. The CEO/CTO do not care at all about the Software Engineers, only a handful of the Data Scientists.

Pros

(Not saying whether I was software or data science, but I will say that I was intimately involved with both types of work) -Fantastic people for the most part -There were some pretty sharp people there, you could learn a lot about petroleum engineering from them

Cons

-It's been awhile since I've been there, but when I was, it was a joke about how the company is Theranos for the energy world. I've heard secondhand of us showing completely falsified data to some very well known companies -Absolutely zero direction. -*Extremely low* compensation for the caliber of people. I tripled my salary after leaving -The lowest amount of rigor I've ever seen in an organization that was trying to do 'science'. Some of the ideas I heard on how to solve a certain ML problem were almost laughable, until you realized that they were being serious (and these ideas often came from upper technical management!)

Pros

The people are very intelligent and I loved my coworkers. The team I worked on was great and supportive. Cutting edge technology.

Cons

Pushy recruiter (should have listened to this red flag when I was being hired and pressured to sign ASAP.) Recruiter lied about compensation (my recruiter completely liked about the bonus plan in my offer letter - my managers knew nothing about it). Advice: Get everything in writing discussed with your recruiter - they will not communicate any of it to your managers or team before you start. Constantly changing directions and strategy and not enough communication to teams about it. Not much synergy between departments. The leadership team cannot deal with any type of uncomfortable conflict apparently. During COVID layoffs (which a majority of companies are dealing with right now - this wasn’t unique to Beyond Limits) they practically discarded us. Not an ounce of feedback or gratitude for any of the work we put in. I understand layoffs are uncomfortable but why burn a bridge for employees who worked so hard on behalf of the company? So beware and look out for yourself, they don’t really care about you or your career growth, at least not more than their own discomfort in having hard conversations.
