I worked at BioInformatics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    New office is nice and

    Cons

More and more people left since the new CEO only cares about bringing in more investors and doesn't want to hire people, just put on more work on old people. Seeing the company is going down, people left. Some people work so hard, stay late at the office everyday, some people just go to the gym at noon, play with phones all day, WFH a lot but still get approved by managers.

I have been working at BioInformatics full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people at BioInfo are amazing coworkers who help me learn. I do not have a science degree so it can be daunting but we work well as a team with many of my colleagues having an MBA or PhD

    Cons

Some late nights when clients need their results but everyone is working together to pull the data and write the report to deliver for the client

I have been working at BioInformatics full-time

    Pros

Brand new 16th floor Office in Ballston. New CEO who is fixing, innovating, growing and nurturing the Company. Super smart people who are passionate and nice. Well stocked drink cooler and monthly chair massages. The best part is the work. Interesting and helping lead other businesses make good decisions.

    Cons

A little construction around the area of the new Office but should be done in a few months.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Thanks for treating people with professionalism, respect and humor!

    Pros

Good work-life balance and very flexible in terms of work hours, working from home, and taking time off.

    Cons

Most of the staff is under paid, especially the the junior staff. The company also lacks clear focus and future strategic direction.

    Advice to Management

Increase compensation for employees and implement a proper bonus structure when appropriate.

I worked at BioInformatics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some staff are nice people, who, unfortunately are overworked, under-resourced and grossly underpaid.

    Cons

The executive leadership, and it is anything but leadership, is back-biting, in-fighting and openly fighting amongst the staff, ridiculing and trashing each other constantly. There is no vision or strategy for the company. There is no philosophy of employee retention and the company has become a revolving door of young, inexperienced employees because they come cheap. The C-Suite Executive is an addict, AWOL most of the time, or, if available, is clearly intoxicated and, what is so amazing, no one will put a stop to this insanity!! It is egregious, debilitating, ruinous and totally unfair to the staff. The fact that this company is still operating is just dumb luck.

    Advice to Management

    1. Fire the new CEO. 2. Put everyone out of their misery and close shop!

    I worked at BioInformatics full-time

    Pros

Flexible work environment, some folks are nice to work with, nice location near the metro and generally a solid commute for most people.

    Cons

Extremely underpaid. Benefits are mediocre. The management are self-important blowhards with very limited ability to lead, create any kind of actual revenue, or even connect to the industry as a whole. Data gathering and dissemination is borderline laughable and put together clumsily by a young staff that really does not have a clue and can't learn since management are so incompetent. New CEO is a joke and has poisoned the company culture.

It is a wonder this company hasn't gone under yet.

    Do NOT work here.

    Advice to Management

    Grow up.

    Pros

Relaxed work environment, people are easy to get along with, sometimes interesting projects.

    Cons

They underpay and overwork you. Not enough people are in the company to handle the work load but they can't really afford to hire more without going even more into the red.

    Advice to Management

Cut some of the dead weight and hire for positions you really need more of.

"TOXIC work environment and borderline scam company"

I worked at BioInformatics (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Main pro is that it's close to the metro. Work-life balance was decent.

    Cons

    Management is AWFUL:
To sum them up: unethical and extremely unprofessional. One person in C-suite has shown up high on pain killers on numerous occasions. Management is cynical, unpleasant to work with, and constantly have a contagiously depressing attitude. They get in shouting matches all the time and it was just awkward for everyone. It was a toxic work environment. The management team just wants to fake-it-until-they-make-it, and sell the company to any firm dumb enough to believe the hype. They have zero innovation.

    Business model is a scam:
BioInformatics gets approached by lab equipment co's to perform market research. BioInformatics sends surveys (spams) to an online community of 'scientists' to get their input and pays them for their time. The problem is that there are tons of frauds participating and they game the system. BioInformatics can't do anything to stop this issue and they are, of course, not upfront with their clients. AND, BioInformatics has lied about donating some of the deferred $ to charities for YEARS. They just pocket it, and I guess understandably, because their projects are lucky to break-even. They are not profitable.

    No transparency:
A bunch of liars at the top. Board meetings are secretive and employees are set up to fail with the lack of information. Zero guidance.

    DO NOT WORK HERE

    Advice to Management

First, stop the constant bickering - it's killing your staff morale. Then, innovate. Your business is predicated on fraudulent methods. Be more transparent to staff. Give more incentive for your staff to stay.

    Pros

Fast track into the world of market research and consulting in the biotech industry.

    Cons

Small company that always demands that the job get done even when under-staffed.
