Pros

Great work conditions, good onboarding (when done in the US), great hardware, smart and amazing colleagues, lots of travel, good benefits (overall) and extra activities (SKO, team meetings ...). Great path to work in the industry, but my advice don't stay too long...

Cons

I was part of the layoff but I will try to keep it honest even though it hit me by surprise! (I put 1 star as global rating instead of 3 because Branch asks their current employees to put 5 stars on Glassdoor to increase the ranking and does not reflect reality...) Work/life Forget about work/life balance. Less PTO than the average national... Will be asked to work during your holidays Politics: Management changed and became agressive. Heard so many time "you will loose your job if you do not perform". Result: performing will not help you to keep your job, politics will. Branch preferred keeping employees on probation than keeping good performers! There is no transparency (CEO told us to not to worry 2 weeks before the layoff) There is a serious lack of emotional intelligence from the top management. One month salary + 2/3 years old macbook is not an exit package! Look at other companies in the industry. On top of that reading some of your comments here about rehiring employees later .... Seriously?!?! Be aware that you can switch from superstar; earning awards to rotten fish really quickly ! And also in terms of strategy - zero commitment to goals. Only constant change of priorities. Which make everyone scramble to achieve all the time.

We acknowledge your feedback given in your review above.I would firstly like to apologize for the difficult experience you had at Branch . The reduction in workforce in April was an unavoidable outcome of the current difficult economic conditions the world faces.Branch took the decision to tackle this area early unlike many other Companies that have now started making similar adjustments. The decision and selection criteria around this reduction was not taken lightly. We respect that your experiences at Branch may not have lived up to your expectations. Our aim is always to maintain an environment that promotes a good work life balance in a pleasant working atmosphere. We are constantly looking at our benefits such as PTO ,feedback processes , communication and strategy to ensure they remain aligned with our goals and values. As a company still in its growing stages, we understand this will come with growing pains and lessons . Your feedback is important to us and will help address some of the valid points you have raised. If you would like to discuss your feedback in greater detail , please email hr@branch.io.

Pros

Very smart and hardworking colleagues.

Cons

As mentioned by other reviewers, Branch does not care about their employees: - Zero work life balance and you are expected to overwork without any recognition. - If you take leave days, you are being looked down upon, and people in the company are afraid to take leave. - Terrible company culture, no meritocracy, no career progression. - No transparency, plenty of politics & favouritism. Stay away.

Thank you for your feedback. We value all employee feedback and aim to address any themes we identify.I am sorry that you found your time at Branch challenging. We are indeed privileged to be working with some very talented and hardworking colleagues and value their efforts. Our employee wellbeing is a priority to us and we are always striving to find ways of improving this through regularly reviewing our policies on areas such as annual leave and PTO. Apart from these reviews, we are also closely working with Leadership Teams across the Company to ensure that we actively encourage colleagues to use their PTO and use the time to disconnect from the business and rest. We have endeavored to protect the entrepreneurial culture that is the foundation of Branch and believe we have rewarded colleagues who have shown such qualities .We are far from the finished product but as we grow, we hope to make career paths clearer and support them with policies and practices that continue to recognize and reward individuals in a fair and transparent manner. Please email hr@branch.io if you would like to discuss your feedback further.

Pros

Branch is an early-stage/scale-up technology company. If you enjoy that sort of environment, then you'll agree having greater agility, freedom from procedural constraints, a new challenge every day, success punctuated by intermittent and fleeting failure, a permanent sense of urgency and a heavy workload are 'pros'. If you don't agree, why are are you working here? If you prefer to wrap yourself in a corporate duvet, Adobe and Salesforce and Oracle and Microsoft all have jobs advertised. I've worked for the fledgling EMEA arm of 5 US software companies. A couple went on to become very successful enterprises. The best compliment I can pay Branch is that the longer I'm here, the more it reminds me of those previous successes. Nothing is guaranteed, of course. Having great product and even better people is never enough: you need luck, market readiness and a bit more luck. All you can do is give yourself the best chance you can, and that is what Branch is doing. - Compensation is slightly above scale-up market average - Feedback is encouraged to the point it is almost demanded with regular employee engagement surveys - Product value prop is strong with no competitive equal - Potential to revolutionise the industry and make Branch a household name for decades to come - New skillsets and knowledge expansion are unavoidable - Hugely approachable execs and senior leadership - No egos. I mean none - Even less politics. Try that at Branch and you're toast within weeks - A *real* commitment to diversity and inclusion. Not just lip-service I lead a team of 5 Customer Success Managers split between Berlin and London who are as good at what they do as any CSM I've managed previously. None has left, which means the previous review by a 'former London Customer Success Manager' is fake. No such profile exists. Oh, and the corporate swag is top-notch.

Cons

Branch is an early-stage/scale-up technology. If you've ever worked at such a company, you'll immediately know what that means. And if you've been lucky enough to work at a successful early-stage/scale-up, you'll know that challenges in such environments can be significant. Branch is no different. But there is nothing I've seen at Branch that I didn't see previously at companies that enjoyed hugely successful outcomes. It comes with the territory: you're building the plane and flying it at the same time. It's not for everybody, but last time I checked there were no locked doors or bars on the window. The workload can be significant at times. Shocking, right? Who would have thought that a company of 100 people that doubles in size two consecutive years might be busy? Does that mean there is nothing that could be changed? Of course not. Greater autonomy for the regions, a firmer commitment to succeeding big or failing big, a tad less micro-management...if you can't find ANYTHING you'd like to change about your current employer, you're probably not looking hard enough. As with just about every tech organisation this spring/summer, Branch did have to make some workforce cuts. I don't expect former-employees to be well-disposed to Branch given such a move, but neither do I expect them to lie about us. It's remarkable that people should be so ticked off about losing a job that - given the content of their transparently partial reviews - they clearly hated. Bizarre.
