    Pros

Aggressive company with good salary and other benefits

    Cons

feel like there is no future in this company since the day i have joined i am doing git bisect to find bug between baselines. with avago the work is also less now and lot of projects have gone away. office politics are peak level and very less job security in this satellite site .

    Advice to Management

    Pl improve your hiring process

I have been working at Broadcom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Broadcom is a a great engineering company built by engineers and not programme managers.

    Cons

Conditional Access Security is in turmoil since lot of high profile people have resigned now . The leadership/management of CA Security in UK is dumb technically and are not able able to cope with dynamic requirements of security. It is time that Broadcom restructure and remove inefficient and incompetent people otherwise competition will get an edge. The current leadership is good at managing a Pub or working at Retail shop and does not deserve working in a great engineering company like Broadcom. Another issue under the current management is that people at very high grades are doing trivial work here and not contributing what that level demands. Looks like it is heading towards ST micro which shut down its set top group and this will not be surprising.

    Advice to Management

Please restructure before it is too late and make sure good talented people can lead and not bunch of Program Managers who talks on phone otherwise we are heading towards fate of ST micro.

I have been working at Broadcom full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good company with no vision into future.

    Cons

A lot depends where is the location of work. USA is a much better place to work for Broadcom. In Europe it is mostly good for Braggarts, Programme Managers and people in management ladder to put it straight it is mostly those people who don't write a single line of code; so not a place for engineers. For good engineering work better look at US. Here I can see 5 managers talking on phone on one trivial issue and only one engineer working on it that is how skewed the ratio of work is here. Some of these managers are blinded and can't see and has no sense of any engineering work and want to retire without doing anything.

    Advice to Management

Hock Tan should retire and sit at home after failing to acquire Qualcomm.

I have been working at Broadcom full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good Bonus, RSU's and Salary and literally no work to do.

    Cons

Beware of joining Broadcom UK as there is racism here. I would say it is mecca of racism and with BREXIT it is quite dangerous to work here in Bristol. Also this site doesn't have any good work and can be shut down anytime.

    Advice to Management

CEO Hock Tan should replace managers who only talk on phone.

I worked at Broadcom full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good flexible employer, excellent colleagues and good salary

    Cons

Expected to work hard - weekends and evening when necessary. Enjoyed working for the company much less after the Avago takeover.

    Advice to Management

There is more to a company than the bottom line

    Pros

Money is good, but you are better of contracting as there are no career possibilities

    Cons

zero career prospects specially in satellite sites

    Advice to Management

I worked at Broadcom full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Great colleagues
    - Superb site in Cambridge
    - Interesting technology

    Cons

    - Lack of institutional will to be at cutting edge of technology --- always trying to follow along cheaper. The trouble is, that's much harder than running a proper tick-tock cycle and getting your budget offerings almost "for free".
    - Poor senior management; confused and unstable strategy seemed mostly focussed on massaging the balance sheet.
    - Questionable future under new owners.

    Advice to Management

Clearer vision and stronger investment in technology and capabilities.

I worked at Broadcom full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Company, great management team, and a very relaxed working environment.
The interview was fairly straight forward; questions about Transistors VHDL and integrated circuits, D flip flops

    Cons

since acquired by Avago, headcounts decreased but that's to be expected
