Pros

There were a couple of employees who were decent.

Cons

• Disorganized - their on boarding is non-existent, and they're not ready for your first day, despite requesting you start on said day. • Power struggles - internal strife will be part of your normal routine here. Think again about working cohesively with coworkers....they're often upset about how news is delivered to them, about new employees starting. Nothing operates smoothly, and it causes tension and uncomfortable working conditions. • Poor management - Who's running the show? Between internal strife and conflict, immature individuals in key roles, it's hard to tell which way is up. • Unprofessional - Management's way of dealing with challenging employees is to scream at them in their office, assuming the rest of the employees can't hear them. • Apprehension - When you decide you're going to lead the charge on things, management would rather focus on "who told you to do that" vs "wow, what a great idea, let's see how this can benefit our company/business" • While the office might be remodeled now, it was such a depressing experience for me and others, I don't think the facelift would have made much improvement. • Benefits - Don't plan on getting pregnant while you work there. They won't compensate you for it, and they'll give you a guilt trip about "being gone for so long."

We appreciate you taking the time to leave this very candid review as feedback for us. We are VERY sorry that your experience at Bulldog was not positive and that you were left with such a negative outlook on our business. As a former employee, we're sure you're not aware that many things have changed in the last few years for the better. Admittedly, we're not and we will never be perfect; however, we've included a detailed explanation of some post-2015 improvements: After polling our employees (using anonymous feedback surveys), we found there were many suggestions for improvement and ongoing organizational development. We created action plans to address these issues. In 2015, we implemented a 2-week on-boarding program that allowed new employees to get more acclimated to their surroundings in regards to our work, Bulldog's culture, people that they would be working with in various departments, and facilitate the general housekeeping items such as paperwork, computer and office setup. Soon after, we then developed a more robust 90-day process that includes check-ins, role-specific training, and general on-boarding that continues to iterate & change as we grow. In 2016, we implemented a more formal performance management process. Today, this includes semi-annual goal-setting, regularly scheduled one-on-one meetings with employees on a bi-weekly cadence, and real-time concern & performance management. With these regular check-ins and focused objectives with milestones, our employees are able to discuss (in real-time) challenges and areas of opportunity, objectives, and training and development areas to improve our day-to-day and identify long-term career trajectory opportunities. In 2017, we created a Culture Committee - made up of peer-recognized champions - to meet & track the action plan execution and identify ongoing opportunities as we grow. We never want to be stagnant! We meet monthly to discuss progress and brainstorm other ideas to improve. It was feedback, like yours, that led us to develop this team, craft action plans, and work really hard to address concerns. Benefits offering were another piece to be addressed in our action plan. We discovered that we needed to establish more ways employees could take the time-off to be with their families and not feel guilty about being gone, whether for vacation or parental leave. So, in 2016, we launched our Guilt-Free Time-Off policy (GFTO) where employees enjoy unlimited PTO, with a minimum of 15 days/3 weeks per year. And in 2017, we rolled out an incredible Parental leave policy that offers an extended paid-leave period for new parents, regardless of gender or birthing means (ie: adoption, surrogacy, etc). We continue to aim for the goal of being ‘The Irresistible Workplace.’ This means we want to create a place where meaningful work can happen, we have more hands-on management, a positive work environment – culture of recognition & flexible schedules, growth opportunity, and trust in leadership. With these concepts and ideals in place we work towards making this a reality every day. This way we can create a positive work experience for current and future Bulldogs. Again, we appreciate that you've shared your experience and we will continue learning and growing from feedback such as this. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

There are a handful of coworkers who are nice and the building is nice.

Cons

- Mgmt. is all over the place. From micromanaging, to not knowing process, to letting go of employees without thinking it through. - Mgmt. loves to point out when an employee is wrong vs. helping lead and support. - Employees are drowning in work due to lack of appropriate resources to do the jobs needed. Working 12-15 days for weeks on end and with no appreciation (but yelled at instead) is driving people to quit. - Even though people are working extreme amounts of overtime during the week, they are expected to work during the weekend to help "catch up". There is no life/work balance. - Mgmt. constantly over-promises to clients, causing employees additional stress and forcing them to work late nights and weekends.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your feedback. We are very sorry that you didn't have the best experience as a Bulldog, but we do wish you well with future employers and endeavors. We're not sure when exactly you worked with us, but there have been numerous changes in the past few years to help with some of the issues described here. We have put measures in place to help set-up employees for success, including regular one-on-one meetings with their managers to talk through problems and have a better, more real-time knowledge of challenges employees are encountering, and also have implemented an improved performance management process to provide two-way feedback. These were identified after we received great, candid feedback ,such as this. Since then have made great strides to improve the culture and organization while we strive to achieve the ideals of the "Irresistible Workplace." We appreciate your time, candor, and contribution in leaving this review.

Pros

If you work in SOME department or SOME teams, you'll have great leadership. You will work with some really great people.

Cons

You'll work with some superbly mediocre people who somehow are untouchable, no matter what they do or how many thousands of days off they take for vacations all over the world, or even how many days they work from home. The upper leadership, except for a few, have mostly been with the company since it was not an agency yet, or haven't worked at an agency before Bulldog. Thus, they don't know how to run an agency and are ever and always scrambling to hide their lack and try to make it out like it's just "a different way to do things" when really it's just that they don't know how to make an agency really work. In the departments that need the most change, it seems to happen at a snails pace, if at all. While some departments promote from within, some also don't, so it's easy to end up in a dead end job. They will tell you otherwise when you are sold on the job. Work-life balance is great for some, horrible for others who work 60+ hour weeks for months at a time while they watch their coworkers and bosses leisurely walk out at 5 on the dot. You may work there for years and never get even a single cost of living increase. "Guilt free" unlimited time off is not guilt free, nor unlimited - there is a 30 some odd step list of instructions on what you must do before you can take your "guilt free" time off in some departments. If you take too much (unlimited PTO) time too often, you will likely get flagged by management and they'll have their eye on you even if your job performance is stellar. It's very political, and if you don't become a "favorite," you can get canned or swept aside very easily. People sometimes get fired if the right person doesn't like them as a person. Bulldog likes to put on a smiley and super-cool facade in all possible ways, like how they offer free snacks and food - sounds great, right?! When you look closer, you see that it's mostly $1 Little Debbie cakes, Walmart brand sandwich meat and bread, and food cooked by an internal employee every weekend. That's Bulldog.

Thanks so much for the feedback. Sorry to hear that you’re not having an incredible experience as a Bulldog, but we welcome your input and appreciate this review. We recognize that we often work long hours and stretch ourselves to meet the needs of our clients. To avoid an unsustainable workload and strike a balance in allocating resources to each project, we have established a goal of 75% utilization for all of our team members in Operations (Creative, Development, Media, MarTech, and QA). We are looking into better ways to use this platform and our PMO staff to improve visibility & effectiveness. We invite your participation in this process. In reference to your feedback on the Guilt-Free Time Off policy, it sounds like there may be some confusion about the parameters, so we’ve included a snapshot of the policy here: 1. Request in advance, if possible. 2. Work out coverage amongst your team members. 3. Obtain approval from your manager through our online portal. 4. Adhere to the annual minimum suggestion – 3 weeks of Time-off. We have a minimum mount of day in order to ensure that everyone is taking advantage of the generous policy and we hope that all Bulldogs are able to balance working hard for BDS/Clients with a substantial amount of time-away. As it is truly unlimited, we do not have a maximum or even a threshold that would trigger a “flag” from management. We do always work to make sure that the teams are equitably distributing coverage time and that no one person is stuck always providing coverage for others. We understand that your experience may have been different than the cited expectations and we’d like to hear more about it. We invite further discussions with you if you’re having trouble in this area. As for our performance management and termination practices, we do not share detailed information regarding specific actions, but speaking generally, we require our managers to hold regular performance management meetings with all employees; we have a Performance Improvement Plan (PIP) framework that can be implemented to assist with facilitating continued improvement. Both the one-on-one meetings and PIP actions are confidential; sometimes these actions lead to a termination or a Bulldog graduation. It is not always easy, but part of ensuring that we are on the path to Irresistibility includes regular evaluations of our capacity, capability, and cultural alignment of all of our team members. We’re sorry to hear that you don’t enjoy our lunch and snack offerings. Our Office Manager, who is a culinarian, enjoys providing a fun menu each week that is informed by employee-requests. Our kitchen is filled with a variety of Company-provided and employee-shared goodies. Unfortunately, we can’t find an instance of the Company ever offering Walmart-brand sandwich meats, but we do welcome suggestions and requests for all of the menu offerings. For example, this week, we have the following options: Thai coconut chicken, Falafel, and pasta salad, among other things to build salads or sandwiches. As we approach 100 employees, we do not expect to make everyone happy with everything that we do or serve but we hope to help the majority with nutritious meals throughout the workweek. We appreciate any and all feedback as we continue on the path to building our Irresistible Workplace. Thank you!
