Pros

The best thing about Button is the people. I have never worked somewhere with such incredibly bright people but who are also so incredibly generous with their time. From my first day, from CEO downwards, my opinion was actively sought out and there was a genuine excitement about where we going as a company. If I've ever wanted to go and bat ideas around with co-founders, product teams, revenue teams I've found them incredibly open and willing to do so. The culture is also fantastic and that permeates through the whole organisation. From policies that enable you to feel free and relaxed (travel stipend, unlimited vacation etc) to the informal nuance - always being asked what Button can do to make it an even better place to work - you really feel like part of a family.

Cons

Like every growth scale company, there is A LOT to do so work is always busy and resources can be tight. However, that is tempered by a huge priority on wellbeing and spending time with family which comes from CEO down so people aren't working 24 hours and not spending time with loved ones.

Some great people but poor management

Pros

- Good benefits - Smart, driven colleagues - Flexibility to work from home - Nice office space

Cons

- Toxic culture that stems from the top down. Leadership and management at Button has a habit of playing "favorites" and if you're not one of these lucky few, you're forgotten about or treated really poorly. - There's no real path towards promotions or raises. Due to these factors, the turnover at the company keeps getting worse and its surprising to see anyone last at Button for more than a year. - No transparency with how the company is actually performing. Everyone was reassured things were great until they had to lay off 40+ employees

Thank you for your feedback. As you know, one of our company values is to speak boldly and honestly and we really appreciate your candor. We take your words seriously and we’ll be reviewing them with the leadership team to discuss your concerns. We also appreciate you bringing it to our attention that the promotion process feels unclear. We strive to provide a consistent framework through the growth ladder and strive to be transparent with the process and means of evaluation as part of our values of growing individually and organizationally. We will do our part to revisit our documentation and review the process with managers to ensure these guides and resources are consistently utilized in growth conversations. If there is anything else you’d like to share, I would be more than happy to discuss your concerns further. Please feel free to reach out to me directly. -Stephanie, Chief People Officer
