Pros

Tech support is prompt and friendly. Cute website (very Japanese). Polite and friendly students.

Cons

Cafetalk sets extremely high benchmarks (money earnt per month) to achieve the 85% margins they say you can earn. I’ve taught nearly 300 lessons in the past 6 months and I’m still hovering around the 65%-70% mark. You set your own prices, but there really is a limit as to how much you can charge, given the majority of English tutors are non-native speakers who seem happy to take lessons for around US$10 an hour or less. There is a niche though: Japanese/English bilingual speakers seem to be able to command a good fee... I’ve now taken on most of my students privately, as I can offer the same classes to them for less money, whilst I take more. Win-win! Bizarre that Cafetalk haven’t understood that this is a massive problem to them, given they can’t monitor student-teacher communication, and they take such a large margin from your fees.
