Pros

You get a lot of experience, from project initiation to completion.

Cons

You'll learn a little of everything which is great in the long run, but doesn't really help if you want to master design/project management/transportation planning. There are no pay raises if you continuously go above and beyond. So the pay you start off with better be good for, at least, the next 8 years or so. There is so much work with little staff. The problem doesn't stem from the department itself, but rather the lack of personnel, resources, and support.

Pros

Excellent retirement benefits through Tx County and Retirement System

Cons

Compensation could be better. 6 month employment probation should be reduced to 3 months.
