Pros

It is difficult to identify a single redeeming quality. The technology barely functions, and without the relentless efforts of a handful of overworked and severely underpaid implementation staff, there would be nothing holding the operation together. The so-called “tech” is little more than a façade propped up by people burning out just to keep it alive.

Cons

The list of issues is extensive, but here is the short version. No one enjoys working at Canoe. From the first day, nearly every employee will tell you how toxic the culture is or how unbearable their manager has become. Outside of the implementation team, productivity is almost nonexistent. Getting a response on Slack feels like winning a lottery, and sending an email guarantees it will be ignored indefinitely. Management is completely absent, uninvolved, unresponsive, and utterly incapable of leading. Sharing ideas is pointless because leadership neither listens nor understands the basics of their own business. Meetings are dominated by meaningless golf talk, which seems to be the company’s only shared interest. The product itself is embarrassingly weak compared to competitors, who have long surpassed it in both quality and usability. The small push for a “return to office” has only amplified tensions. Forcing people who cannot stand each other into the same physical space creates an atmosphere so awkward it is almost comical. Turnover is constant, and transparency does not exist. Employees vanish without explanation, and management refuses to address it. Asking what happened gets you silence or deflection, never an honest answer.
