Atlanta - not a place for minorities

Pros

It’s easy to pass the technical screening and fake your way around for a while.

Cons

Recruiting use “culture fit” to really focus on hiring/promoting Caucasians in the Atlanta office. All the recent directors: all Caucasians. All the recent college new hires: all caucasians. There’s a lack of cultural sensitivity around the office: - an offensive $2000 Buddhist gong was bought and used as a symbol of “innovation”. - suggestions to dress up like different World Cup countries for team bonding - folks are openly mocked for their dietary restrictions and lifestyle choices During recruiting and interviewing they sell a great culture and flat organization. It has become the opposite. There’s been a huge influx of Slalom leadership that don’t follow the “Others Talk, We Listen” motto. Instead there is a lot of back channeling and closed door meetings. “Let the big guns figure this out”

Pros

This is a great place to start when you’re fresh out of college and know you’ve got no better options. CapTech will pay you greatly for those Virginia Tech and UVA grads who want a first job. Other than that, expect your pay and raises to stagnate if you are a person of color or a woman. The benefits are pretty decent, but not something you couldn’t get at one of their competitors or their clients. There’s fun events that the company sponsors with alcohol and food provided, but be careful of those freshly graduated white males running around with a free and open bar, there have been several incidents of them causing problems at company functions and outside of them.

Cons

To beat a dead horse, this place is a good ole boy’s club. Do not expect to have a real career here based on your results or performance if you are of color or a woman. You are valued far less than the affluent college kids that CapTech rakes in by the truckload. There have been several reported cases of sexual harassment and inappropriate conduct based in this 75% white male inhabitied company. HR is a joke and barely does anything to control or curb it. God help you if you’re a woman staff aug’d on a client sight, because you’ll most likely be the only female around for miles with a bunch of males who can, and will, say literally anything to you and get away with it. Don’t expect to find anything here but an easy job and office politics. Someone will likely throw you under the bus before they try to actually confront the problem. The work is mind numbingly all staff augmented and rarely ever anything else. And god forbid you’re on an anchor client, because you will likely be there for a year or so. The best part about all of this is that the rating for this company in Glassdoor is maintained by the marketing team constantly making new accounts and fake reviews. It’s laughable to say the least.

Pros

Low/no travel - work where you live model Excellent college hires Very competitive Consultant level Compensation Reasonable benefits, PTO/401k/Insurance

Cons

Poor compensation past Senior Consultant which is not competitive with other consultancies, or clients by design. Company rewards tenure, not performance or competency. Misleading recruitment process - generic job descriptions which have nothing to do with the work 75% of the time. Very significant amount of Staff Augmentation type work. Mismanaged AM function without appropriate compensation or utilization expectations. Heavy reliance on happy hours to keep young people excited about being a "consultant" when they've spent the past 18 months taking meeting minutes as their job.

Thank you for your review and feedback. Many factors are considered when determining compensation, including performance against goals and our Core Competency Framework, based on your level. If you’d like to learn more about the Annual Review process (it’s right around the corner!), I encourage you to reach out to your Coach or anyone in HR. As we grow, our markets will continue to evolve as we recruit and hire more consultants and leaders in our newer markets. Again, we value your feedback and as a current employee, feel free to reach out to me directly if you’d like to further discuss any of your concerns. - Suzie Turner, Principal
