Pros

- there is good training/education in trading - people are generally nice and people within trading/strategy are competent and intelligent - good food in the london office

Cons

- loads of bureaucracy and the firm is very cheap with resources which results in nothing getting done - the firm has made really poor hiring choices at the management level (e.g. the COO they hired from GS lasted like 3 months, multiple CTOs which have all been useless and last 1-2 years, etc.) - they are forcing 1 year (and longer) noncompetes on junior traders which are particularly prohibitive for their level of experience - below market payout/compensation compared to the top tier multistrats (you'll never see a successful trader from citadel/MLP come to capula but the reverse will be true, its a one way street) - complete exodus of whatever little software engineering talent they had resulting in a front office IT team that can barely keep up so whatever projects you have in mind will never get done. -everyone in risk hates their job and is constantly quitting - Blotter: it is embarrassing that a 20 billion dollar fund has traders using a 20 year old spreadsheet to book all their trades manually

Pros

The Japanese owners of the company exhibit greater humility and gratitude compared to the UK tech management leaders below, who operate the business in a more cowboy approach.

Cons

Slavery mentality in IT with aggressive bullying tactics. IT Support is relentlessly pushed to their limits, to the point of exhaustion. Senior IT staff and managers contribute little while indulging in extended breaks. The upper management within technology are very judgemental and unproductive, often working from home using IT staff for fast results only to look good. Tech leaders have no fundamental technological understanding, they are constantly looking for one man to rectify their chaotic infrastructure due to their collective inability. There's a scarcity of knowledge resources and training, and everything is alarmingly outdated. Requests for development and support often result in discourteous responses. The use of profanity and intimidation towards new IT staff is unfortunately tolerated. HR often turns a blind eye to instances of unfair treatment. Employees are harshly judged for not meeting impractical demands. Outdated and cumbersome technology that offers little room for growth or learning. The technology managers can severely harm your career. Consider joining only if you are desperate. IT management specialise in sacking people who resist their backward approach.

Pros

Free food and nice office location

Cons

Very long hours even compared to other hedge funds. Worse technology and very stressful staff. Outdated technology that belongs to 19th Century..
