Leadership are a constant let down, and they don't care

Pros

• Remote work is good • Benefits are decent • Autonomy to get on, even if recognition and support isn't given • Used to get together as teams, but not anymore • Leadership are open to feedback, but do nothing about it • Leadership really want to build trust, but not willing to do the work and invest to make it happen • Attracting great talented people, but they are leaving within weeks of starting • Leadership are strong at generating 4&5 star fake Reviews (have a browse)

Cons

The basics of running a health business and culture are missing. The direction is set and changed soon after, highlighting the inability for leadership to foresee basic near-future challenges. Trust is spoken about so much but not practiced, with no real idea of realistic measurable outcomes for the teams, and when they are successful, the recognition is missing. Leadership don't assume positive intent, rather they question and undermine when people step up. Communication is hard for a global company, but we struggle to even communicate well within Canada. No levels of awareness or interest of investing in psychological safety, with leadership failing to admit when they get things wrong, and then punish for speaking up. This all leading to a fear of taking initiative. A real lack of investment in to building intentional connections, where leadership could be playing the example they really drop the ball and are barely present and when they are its with a clear agenda. The inconsistency of how leadership turn up and what they do is a really tough one, they say a lot in company wide townhalls but fail walk the walk. This is a shame because I think this would be a simple big win. All-in-all its a pretty dreadful place and holding out for my next role. #prayforme

Pros

- People are friendly - Some social activities - Good work/life balance

Cons

- No incentives - No bonus's anymore - Poor pay for the level of work and experience (other companies would pay a significantly larger amount for the role/amount of years at the company) - Awful management who do not listen to any feedback and constant micro-managing - Lack of opportunities for growth

A toxic culture driven by senior leadership

Pros

1. There are some great, hardworking people doing their best in very difficult circumstances. The camaraderie with colleagues was often the only positive aspect of day-to-day work. 2. You will quickly see how a company can develop a toxic culture and constant dysfunction, and you’ll learn a lot about which red flags to avoid in future roles.

Cons

1. In my experience, the senior leadership team, including the CEO, had an adversarial relationship with employees. I felt patronised while teams worked under intense pressure to keep projects afloat. 2. Hard work was rewarded with even harder work and very aggressive deadlines. Promotions and pay rises seemed to be based on politics rather than merit, and some of the best at navigating politics (in my view) performed poorly at their actual day to day jobs. 3. Leadership change direction frequently. Over one 12 month period I was moved between many different teams. Each move came with a new “urgent” objective which was later de-prioritised or replaced, making it hard to deliver anything with a long-term impact. 4. Work often felt like constant firefighting. Depending on your department, a typical day can be jumping from one urgent task or incident to the next, with very little time for proactive or strategic work. Some very senior (director-level) staff seemed unable to provide meaningful support in these situations and sometimes added last-minute demands that made things more difficult. 5. I observed a blame culture from senior leadership. Directors would sometimes assign large projects with unrealistic deadlines to much more junior staff. When deadlines were missed, the junior person typically took the blame. When deadlines were met, the usual outcome was being given an even larger project with an even tighter timeline rather than recognition or better resourcing. 6. During my time, there were multiple large waves of layoffs with little warning or transparency.
