Changes have helped the company but more to do

Pros

Chevin has a good team of workers. There is good communication and since the restructure, there has been a better defined future for the company. There is a good mix of new and old employees allowing for good training and a good understanding of the products. A more defined product team has also allowed the company to better define itself and move significantly forward

Cons

Whilst the teams work well, a better defined management structure and complaints procedure is needed. Burnout is a real issue at Chevin due to people working above and beyond to ensure projects go to plan. There is also a tendency for people to take total ownership of projects rather than a collaborative team, which means milestones are missed and there are power struggles when it comes to decision making.

High turnover and burnout but a rewarding challenge

Pros

Lots of new challenges and the company has started to get its act together. Some very great people to work with who collaborate. Work from home works well. Not a bad place to work but it does require a lot of work/life balance sacrifice it feels like. Great chief and exec team who are open to making things work and turn the company around

Cons

Revolving door of staff, good talent leaving the company for more pay and the promise of greener pastures. Product is showing it’s age, it’s slow and is leagues behind in technology and has an identity crisis going from just an asset management tool to an ‘everything’ tool, jack of all trades, master of none. There’s always fires caused by it, never any stability it just always seems like there’s escalations every day with no way out. This feels like it’s caused by a mix of bad decision making, lack of product knowledge, hiring the wrong people and the decades of bespoke features added in. Feels like the ‘yes men’ culture is still present which is just adding more problems all the time. Teams are overstretched, tired and losing talent meaning they’re always replacing then training then replacing again
