I have been working at Cinesite full-time

    Pros

Great team of people to work with and high retention of staff

    Cons

As with every other VFX Facility, it would be nice to have more consistency on turn over from projects so that planning can be optimised

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I worked at Cinesite full-time for less than a year

    Pros

At times it could be fun

    Cons

Very dysfunctional with a particularly antiquated attitude towards most things. Limited future visibility backed up by empty promises. The management team is largely incompetent, particularly senior management. No investment in training

    Advice to Management

Establish a stronger culture and show some care for your employees rather than treating them as another bum on a seat to turn over shots

I worked at Cinesite full-time for less than a year

    Pros

-great work environment -pleasant, easygoing, friendly people -nice helpful production staff, very accommodating if you have any needs -paid very fairly -beer Fridays and other treats!

    Cons

-some organizational issues in schedule planning -if you don't like working at basement level (I didn't mind)

    Advice to Management

Morale is such a key, but often overlooked aspect of running a team. At Cinesite, I really felt that the management, and production staff treated the artists very fairly, and looked after them well. I've never before had a Producer come sit and just chat with us about normal day to day life, and joke around, and socialize. It really made you feel that you're dealing with people, and not just a title, which in turn,...

I worked at Cinesite full-time for less than a year

    Pros

One of the only companies I've worked for that tries to care as best they can for their employees, even when pressures are high. Production, Supervisors and HR are very hardworking, friendly and helpful. The work feels less "cog in a machine" because your input is valued and you can just walk up to another artist/department to discuss problems and figure out solutions. The company paid for independent financial advisers...

    Cons

Based in a basement office the lack of natural light can be depressing (although no-one will tell you off for having a little outside break :) ) There was no prep supervisor or proper training for prep artists which meant they where sometimes let go/replaced to keep up the pace. The usual overtime cons that come with working in VFX. At least at this company it seems like they want to change for the better.

    Advice to Management

I must honestly say working here was a pleasant experience and in this industry under pressure it was great to see Cinesite making effort to support their employees and re-pay some of the overtime. Keep going and change our industry for the better!

I worked at Cinesite full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of amazing people from many backgrounds that you wonder what the bloody hell are you doing here.

    Cons

Cliques, Cliques, Cliques and guess what... more Cliques. The company feels like a high school, people act like they are in a high school and some of the content that is produced belongs to the same league of a high school. Tons of people act like they own the company and hurt it either intentionally or by accident.

    Advice to Management

Many people there are running their own mini-empires that protect the mediocre and drive the hard working and driven employees away. Just keep track of where people that left are and you'll see what I mean. You need to run some heavy HR audits and protocols to weed out the many Napoleons in your turf if you want to remain competitive and attract talent. The cliques are a way of segregation and a vehicle towards...
