Pros

Zilch. None. Need an electron microscope to possibly find a few.

Cons

A typical 2-pice ‘marwari’ IT company. One may join this company if they’re still in a relatively new/young phase of their work career [under 3 yrs] and looking to extend/build their resume any whichever way, no matter what. Please note the ending phrase of the last sentence because that’s what this company is all about. Basically a typical 2-pice petty ‘Marwari IT company’ that tries to act like the resident Oracle, Capgemini or CTS. They’ll make you sign a weird one sided contract, a hideous unconditional BOND of exploitation, that you are not to leave before 12 months completion and that if you do, you will be subjected to a INR 10,000 penalty. Once you have, from thereon begins your free highway drive to damned hell. This company has no ethics, no work culture, no proper environment, no methodology to follow or any work patterns whatsoever. To call this place a fish-market would be an insult to a fish-market itself. Working hours are most regularly from 9:00 AM to 9:30 PM and beyond. People coming from outside Kolkata or from greater distances [10+ kms] can say goodbye to a sane life. That’s how lost this company is. The senior management/leaders are teeming with a whole lot of overaged, underachieving, frustrated misguided losers, insecure and edgy with themselves who don’t even have the basic sense of etiquette or how to respectfully deal with the work and the processes that they’re fortuitously in charge of. They don’t have any expertise or skills themselves; just there to warm the chairs and grunt at the newcomers in very displeasing, unsavory language and manner. The delivery & operational managers try to act out like the living breathing deity of the IT world, nauseous & condescending – straight out of the comic book. The HR Managers/PR personnel are proper bums. Worthless, good for nothing prop-items that’s all. No role, relevance or significance. The pay/compensations are horrifyingly below industry standards, a very shabby, shoddy work environment, pathetic projects, age-old technologies/standards ground day in day out. The saving grace are a mere few of the colleagues you may befriend along the way. Some of them are good and helpful in more ways than one. But you can understand why. There’s nothing else to look forward to in this deal. The less is written/spoken of the owner/proprietor the better. Very unfortunate. This company is hidden away in the basement of a residential complex in a regular, fully residential area. So hideous, phony is its approach that you won’t even find a proper banner/sign anywhere lest any SEBI/ITax/Central Affairs official may spot it in the open, from the road. Enough said.

Pros

You can get hands on experience in development projects, you will be able to perform enough coding, provided you have joined as a software developer. Ambitious people should not stay here for more than 1-2 years.

Cons

People at management role must understand the difference between a software engineer and a factory labor. Employees are treated very badly here and with no respect. There is no employee development guideline or policy. Presently I am working in United States for a US based tech company and I can see why all the exciting technological advancement and innovation take place here. The irony is, US based employers are getting huge success through Indian software engineers like us, whereas Indian tech companies like Citytech is unable to achieve the same level of success with plenty of excellent engineers available locally.
