Thank you for your comment - is it possible you have entered your feedback for a wrong company? We do not operate in London, UK. (We have recently hired a few instructors in UK for our online classes, but they have no travel times.)

Pros

The mission is great, shape kids to become the future. You work with great instructors and Managers. You work from home.

Cons

Honestly, there is not enough space to list all the cons. Leadership is a joke. When I say Leadership, I mean the Founding Couple. The CEO has no self awareness. His actions are borderline unlawful. He makes snarky passive aggressive comments and thinks by laughing or attaching a smiley face, it makes it OK. He is a micromanager to his core. He has no trust in the people he hires. Even for his most loyal employees. He does not care about his instructors, To him, they are lucky they have a job, so let's work them to the ground and not reward them. The bonus structure for both Management and Instructors is laughable., He looks for reasons not to pay them out. He drags along the timeline for paying out bonuses so that people leave before they can get paid because his rule is you have to be a current employee to get your bonus, even if the hard work you put in was 4-5 months ago! I gave up my bonus to pay for my instructors who deserved a bonus. He will nitpick on every single thing and find the negative in your work. A very loyal Director worked so hard and so much but got flack for the smallest things that they would end up leaving meetings crying, and the CEO wondered why. It is crazy how one person makes the whole workplace toxic. Whenever these things get brought to his attention, or if someone says things don't make sense, he will literally say "It does make sense" even when people are telling him they are confused. CEO would rather ask his team to leave positive reviews on here instead of striving to organically create a better culture.

Dear former manager. I am sorry you felt this way. The reality is that we are a mission driven organization and have very high standards for honesty, performance and the service we provide to our customers. We know that it is hard for those who do not align with that mission and performance standards. Since you have left, the company has organized around a core team of its best employees. Everybody is focused on the mission, everybody shares the high bar of performance. There is no more wining, no more slacking. People take ownership and pride in their jobs and we reward people for their success. We are one great team. For some time, you have provided good value to Coding with Kids. However, I trust your departure was the right step forward for you and for Coding with Kids. I wish you only the best in your future.

Pros

Kids love learning to code, and if you need a job for about 10 hours a week during school year and then about 20 hours a week over summer it's a good job.

Cons

Company is incredibly disorganized, missing paychecks, making scheduling mistakes, and not offering a good system for communication between instructors and parents. If parents get unhappy (usually because the company has put you in a no-win scenario and just asked you to clean up their mistake), the company will use that against you. They will withhold pay raises and bonuses when the company is the reason the parent is unhappy in the first place. The company expects you to be available 24/7 by email and phone, off the clock or on, it doesn't matter. No work/life balance. Very little room for growth in the company, and if you want to grow, they will try to take advantage of you and make you work harder for less money. Not my personal idea of growth. The turnover rate is INCREDIBLY high. The company has missed paychecks and is still trying to expand to different areas. They sometimes barely have enough employees to run all their classes, so you will end up doing work meant for 2 people all by yourself with very little support. Managers make promises for raises and certain schedules that they are not able to fulfill. The people are great people, but this company is not a good work environment. If you can get a job at any other coding education company, do so.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We are very sorry that your personal experience working at Coding with Kids is not great. We care about every single employee and would like to assist you to understand better the problems you are facing. On your comments, we would like to clarify a few things for the readers: - We most certainly do not expect anybody to work 24/7, not our exempt employees and most certainly not our part time instructors. It is hard to understand why anybody could feel otherwise. - The company never missed paychecks. You may be referring to a situation, when paychecks arrived one day later due to our payroll provider issues. While it was unfortunate, the paychecks arrived within the required time period and we have individually provided support to all employees who were depending on the paycheck on that day. Since then, we have changed our payroll provider and did not have any new issues. - Our regional managers go above and beyond to support instructors and to create great experience for parents and students. If you are experiencing otherwise in your region, it would be very important for you to bring that up and help us correct the situation. I would like to encourage you to take the courage and do so. We will only appreciate that and help you out. I trust your experience will improve and you will continue enjoying teaching kids coding!
