I have been working at Cofunds full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Awesome subsidised staff canteen
    - Helpful staff
    - Good office environment
    - A decent salary for office work (contact centre)
    - Company is to be taken over by Aegon so could be opportunity for further growth and additional work opportunities in the Witham area

    Cons

    - Too many archaic systems to use
    - Set hours of 9am to 5pm in contact centre (no scope to go part-time)
    - New employees on permanent 37.5 hour contracts working alongside people on 35 hour (some on 6 mth temporary) contracts.
    - Commuting when you're at the mercy of the A12 or bus/rail delays

    Advice to Management

    - Please continue to invest in and support staff to grow with and remain in the company
    - Offer more structured and "on the job" training

I worked at Cofunds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Established history
    - Strong brand recognition

    Cons

    - Too stuck in ways
    - Archaic technology
    - Archaic managers
    - Near-bullying mentality towards those that need support in career progression

    Advice to Management

Please reach out to your worker ants from time to time. Sure you trust your senior managers will be fine as you hired them. However people are well known to have one attitude towards their management and one towards their subordinates, and those in distress are ignored.

    Pros

Work can be interesting with the right manager and support

Soon to be sold to a company that can't do any worse

    Cons

Lack of parking (there is a waiting list and local streets have restrictions for residents only)
Strong lack of employee engagement and inspiration from senior management
Lack of career progression, and training opportunities
Technology is behind with the times and needs considerable investment

    Advice to Management

Make your staff feel valued and involved. Inspire them, support them, communicate with them, and don't hide.

Cutbacks reducing opportunities and L&G dead man shoes means those excelling in a role have to move to progress with is a loss of talent.

I worked at Cofunds full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some talent around and good to build skillset and knowledge. Quite social at times and good team events. Good for first job.

    Cons

Unprogressive environment and values from senior staff. You will be lucky to get a nice manager. L&G are not very open to change and refuse to invest anymore into cofunds. Witham is also a dive.

    Advice to Management

Leave as your managers are old unchangeable nightmares to work with

    Pros

They pay high salaries for Witham or market rates for London
    Some good people

    Cons

Since taken over by L&G the management was all changed and a bitter culture swept through. Management spent most of their time worrying about trivial petty issues and created an dysfunctional atmosphere where reporting to senior levels and hiding the truth if it wasn't pleasant was the daily function of a ever growing tier of middle management.
The technology was creaking, convoluted and ageing. Manual processes and spreadsheets abound and the whole back office is outsourced and needed replacing at vast expense. 3 years later the decision still hadn't been made or started and the volume of clients was far beyond what it could cope with.

The London office was moved and reduced so the main activities are in Witham.
