Pros

The people keep you going - I’m not talking senior management or HR, I mean the brilliant people who work so hard and get very little (if any) thanks for it

Cons

Where do I start? HR are only there to serve the company / senior management, they don’t care about people who aren’t high up or influential. Senior members of staff get away with treating others badly time and time again with no repercussions So many people are unhappy in the business, they are tired, overworked and disrespected. One rule for one, another for someone else. Workload isn’t evenly split across team members, but lumped on one or two people and others get an easy ride. Nepotism is rife. The salary doesn’t reflect the workload or stresses. Lack of progression and direction for many roles. A ‘sweep it under the rug’ culture in regards to problems A facade of caring about staffs mental health but when it comes to actually addressing causes of stress they are ignored. Male directors who get others to do their work for them and don’t say please or thank you or show any respect. A leadership development company that don’t care about leadership development for all of their staff, just a select few. In a nutshell, avoid. It won’t change and there are plenty of other companies who will make you feel like a valued member of their team.

Pros

Worked with some fantastic colleagues and on rewarding external projects at times.

Cons

Rotten organisational infrastructure. Low pay to workload. Have seen many colleagues go off on stress leave, requests for support and reduced workload ignored. Quantity over quality, not for profit which has become commercially driven - forget the 'not'. Workers hold four or five programmes independently which are sold at 15-20k to organisations and yet the company offers no time in lieu, no ability to roll over leave when impossible to take and statutory maternity leave forcing employees to return early.

Pros

First of all, if you are a person who is looking to work for Purpose you will find a home in Common Purpose. the work that common Purpose does is incredibly powerful and important because it impacts individual lives and by doing so entire organisations and the wider society. It is pioneering the notion of leadership development in sectors that never considered this need before and that could definitely benefit from it. thinking outside the box is encouraged and all teams are different but the team I work in nurtures self-awareness, openness and flexibility, values the potential of each team member and adapts as much as possible responsibilities to the skills , competencies and even passions of each team member which is a sure way to ensure productivity and efficiency. you can voice your opinion, propose things , mention pathways that were maybe unexplored and be heard

Cons

"Money, money, money" - it is unfortunately a reality of the charitable sector. I enjoy my work and put a lot of effort into my work but am unfortunately always worrying about money, especially living in London ... The opportunities for growth exist but have a limit and even then I am not sure the salary would increase substantially. if I did not have to worry about money I would probably not consider ever leaving this organisation. Depending on how conscientious a worker you are or how passionate you are about the types of leaders/sector you work with, you may have trouble establishing boundaries and it might not always be recognised ( working overtime out of necessity due to workload is not compensated)
