Pros

Social Events. Small development team but super supportive, amazing guys and girls. Amazing weather and island to be in. At the time I was working the office was near the sea. It is possible to go for a walk after work near the sea really and it feels amazing. You have a platform used to track your time, whenever you start working, do any breaks or stop working you need to register it on the platform. You can be asked to do overtime but you will be paid for it or you can then take that extra time you have worked later as a day/hours off if you need. The development team is split between Slovakia and Madeira being the most senior members in Slovakia, which is really good if you want to improve your English. You get a laptop, monitor, keyboard, mouse (quite standard equipment). The Chair was really good. **This is based on my experience at the time. Things may have changed since then.**

Cons

Low salaries (Nothing special quite standard). Low career progression. No focus on training and helping developers leveling up as management midset is that their competencies go away with them if they leave the company. You may be asked to do certifications but the company won't give any allowance to study during worktime (This was how it was when I was there). Almost no benefits or perks maybe coffee for free, and that was it. Management does not believe in remote working. Occasionally there is some flexibility to work one or two days from home. Some products do not have road maps which do not help to give you the long-term vision of the project. There was no QA team for a while. When new ones were hired they didn't do any automation only manual testing. Sometimes management tends to comment on your personal life decisions which are quite uncomfortable; At the time we were missing someone on the development team who would be able to lead all the developers and help them with the backlog of the products they are working on. New joiners for Team Lead positions don't tend to stay for a long time. However, there are some team members in Slovakia who have been working for the company for more than 10 years. **This is based on my experience at the time. Things may have changed since then.**

Thank you for taking the time to review your experience with Connecting Software. You mention several topics in your advice to management which we have also identified as areas of improvement, including automation and roadmaps. As the company continues to grow, we are focusing more and more on fine-tuning our work to ensure we can scale accordingly. Regarding the development paths, we do offer the ability for people at Connecting Software to learn new tools and have even requested more in our company news portal, such as asking for more people to go through the training to become Azure Administrator certified. However, we will take this feedback and speak internally about how we can better encourage individuals to continue learning during their tenure at Connecting Software.

Pros

- Flexibility: Connecting Software made it possible for me to finish my Computer Engineering College Degree, while acquiring working experience at IT area. They were always super flexible about my working hours, and I will be forever grateful for that; - Awesome new office at Madeira Island, it is motivational to work there; - Great team spirit, they even do team building activities which is actually an awesome pro for any company to have; - Nice integration products, well thought and built overall; - It is an International Company, and you can feel that environment;

Cons

- Salary was not very good, even after finishing my college degree I didn't get any raise proposal; - Payment days were always uncertain when I worked there, at least for me that was hired as a Service Provider; - Micromanagement was an issue too sometimes;

Thank you for taking the time to review your tenure at Connecting Software. We take pride in the products we develop and appreciate your feedback about the flexibility that was offered to you while you were studying. Our new office makes living and working in Madeira even nicer as well. The inconsistency of payment days were indeed an issue we had in the past (our apologies for that!), but have since been resolved after revamping our management and finance teams. As a word of advice, one should never expect a raise after getting a degree. Here are some great tips that one can use to approach an employer about a potential pay raise when receiving a degree: https://www.bryantstratton.edu/blog/2016/october/will-a-new-degree-at-your-old-job-get-you-a-raise. We thank you for your tenure at Connecting Software and wish you all the best in your professional career.

Thank you for the time you took to provide your feedback and thank you for the effort you put into your time at Connecting Software. We always aim to provide higher than average salaries for the areas we operate, and Madeira is no exception. We would also like to apologise if you ever felt uncomfortable at Connecting Software. We aim to treat all individuals as part of the Connecting Software family, where we always treat people with respect and have a zero-tolerance policy for not adhering to this standard. We will review our policies and practices internally and further encourage our work force to approach management should they feel uncomfortable or if they wish to discuss pay raises.
