Pros

I have been working at copart in Britain for a few years now. Lorry Driver Wages good if you work hard. all ppe supplied

Cons

No back up from management Looked down upon do not feel part of a team Told you are not allowed any personal belongings with you in truck, I'm sorry but when you live in a truck 5 days a week and an average of 2-3 nights shouldn't you be allowed some creature comforts. Drivers names go up for employee of the month, manager takes them down. All managers and yard staff in at 8am and away at 5pm drivers left with no back up before or after these times. I also think its quite sad that you only see reply s from US H,R If anything goes wrong you have to prove it wasn't your fault, No support at all, If you have a problem YOU have no one to turn to.

Pros

Free tea, milk water and sugar

Cons

They lie to you at the interview about training and earning potential. The 'training' is they pay you 45 pound a day and then 'supplement' in by 50 a day. They then say you will only need 2 or very occasionally 3 weeks. Then you go into the 'car bonus' scheme. This is a fixed rate per car you pick up and depending upon the zone it is located in, At then end of the training they take the 50 a day supplement back out of your wages, In reality they keep you on ' training' for several months. So do the maths; You are working for 45 a day until you go into the scheme, It could easily take you 10-12hours to find the cars get them on the transporter and then get them off. Management and yard staff go at 5pm on the dot. A total rip off firm do not go near it. When i left they docked me £1000 for supplement money.I regret the day i set foot in the place.

Pros

salary paid on time, so far, free tea and coffee, pension and life assurance, work as a team in the yard, great assistant manager, money is very slightly above average for hgv driver, if you are prepared to forgo your life outside of work, otherwise money is below industry average, £25 xmas bonus

Cons

old trucks, forever breaking down, there are new vehicles in the pipeline but, not for my yard. area manager has never acknowledged any yard employee to my knowledge, no good morning, goodbye etc, GM has got better of late, now says good morning, someones probably had a quiet word. work load for the drivers is unmanageable generally, even the management acknowledges that, we work flat out everyday, relentless pressure, was meant to get a floating driver, saw him once, he hated copart and we never saw him again. no work life balance, when stuff goes wrong you will have to prove you are not to blame, copart will try to blame you and seem to relish giving out warnings and punishment if you dare to question their authority, absent senior management ( never been to my yard in the two years ive been there. recommendations for above average performance never get past the GM, he just laughs, this is true because he does it in front of the staff. GM is very vindictive. no one i know has a good word to say about copart, so we were amazed when the staff survey results were released, interestingly, negative results were not published, merely given a foot note as something that needs addressing Do not know anyone in my yard that likes the company, some like the job, but yard salaries are not competitive, well below average, no career opportunities, company never look at staff cvs, they would be amazed at the stuff some members of staff have done before, and the qualifications held, me included. company keeps tinkering with benefits, ie share issue ( like we can afford to buy shares) lol, childcare subsidies instead of addressing the core areas, i wont spell them out, just apply your minds

Copart Response
11y
Thank you for your post. I found your comments regarding the Company releasing survey results but not sharing the negative items interesting as we are just now preparing to share the results with all employees. When released, the results will show how our employees responded--what scored highest, as well as the lowest rated items. We will be working with our employees across the organization to improve the workplace and will be resurveying to measure our progress along the way. As for the behavior you describe from your GM and RM, I encourage you to contact your Regional HR Manager or me directly as we most certainly want our employees to be treated respectfully and recognized for their contributions and successes. I would also be interested in listening to your suggestions for improving our Benefits program and what you feel would add value for you and your family.
