I have been working at Cvent full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    * Cvent Europe is like a well-funded start-up: we have the backing of a huge company (our HQ), but we still have the family feeling in the London office. There are a number of activities organized by the company and also employees to keep the feeling intact. * Since we are growing a lot in Europe, there are quite a number of career opportunities. A lot of managers used to be the first people doing their jobs in... Europe a few years ago, and now they are managing teams. * Most of the new hires are sent to the HQ (in the US) for training and orientation. * We have a very diverse and inclusive office. * Overall, Cvent's success gives employees a general feeling of accomplishment.

    Cons

    * Due to the HQ being in the US, late night meetings/work take place, invading personal time. * The benefit package can be more competitive - seems like US leadership keeps comparing benefits between US and the UK, rather than within the UK market.

I have been working at Cvent full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    - Cvent has a work-hard, play-hard mentality. If you go above and beyond, you will be rewarded and recognised. There is a ton of opportunity for internal promotions and transitions. - We have a very social culture. Many people find their close friends in their colleagues which is encouraged through quarterly outings, happy hours, team lunches, etc. The people who work at Cvent are impressive and supportive; you... can quickly find your 'work family' in the London office. - As a US-based company, our C-Suite visit the London office often and make a conscious effort to have face time with employees. Even at a 5,000 person company, the CEO and VPs have an open door policy and want to hear what you have to say, regardless of your title. - Great opportunities to advance your career and professional life: Junior roles are trusted to go onsite with valued customers, build connections in the industry through events and seminars, investment in top-of-the-line systems like the LinkedIn Learning platform and Gainsight, tons of engagement with Senior Management, etc. - Work-life balance is achievable but it is up to the employee to set boundaries as we are a global company with very aggressive goals and targets.

    Cons

    - The hiring and interview process is intense. Expect a long day of interviews with at least 4-5 managers/team members. You will also shadow an employee to get a sense of "day in the life". - Perception that European-based employees have to be switched on during US hours. There are occasions that there will be a global meeting that runs past standard UK hours and the expectation is that UK and European-based... employees attend, however, it is at the most once per quarter. As mentioned in the Pros, it's up to the employee to maintain their own work-life balance and managers will be accommodating. - As we grow larger, there are more processes and budget restraints that we wouldn't have seen 5 years ago. - Benefits are standard but nothing mind-blowing.

    Advice to Management

    - We would benefit by having more key decision-makers in the London office. The perception (and truth) is that everything is decided by the US and it's not sustainable as European presence continues to grow rapidly. Our current office leaders are concerned only with their specific departments and we would need someone who is looking after all European employees, processes, decisions, etc. - Ensure that employees... are utilised efficiently. There is a lot of discrepancy with expectations and standards between similar teams. Role expectations should be better defined as many people are doing a variety of other things besides their intended role, i.e. mentoring, committees, internal projects, training, etc. which leads to the work-life balance issue. - Do a better job at expecting, planning, and avoiding attrition to reduce workload impact for rest of the team.

I worked at Cvent full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Lots of events if you enjoy partying. If you are a workaholic they will really look after you and there are career opportunities.

    Cons

They are a US business and they work to those time zones you could end up waiting to join a meeting at 8 or 9pm at night and they will expect you to attend. They pretend to care about you by providing snacks, events etc but the concept of work life balance doesnt exist - when they say you 'bleed blue' they mean you give them everything.

I worked at Cvent full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Nice office space, promote from within

    Cons

London office is full of kids who think they know it all. For many, Cvent has been their only job, hence the delusion. Reminiscent of 6th form atmosphere.

I worked at Cvent full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great and young team, talented people to work with Many social events and networking possibilities If you like to travel the job brings many opportunities to do so. You can get involved in different projects and have a variety of tasks that keeps your day to day interesting. The client base is very diverse and allows you to grow your connections within the industry.

    Cons

It’s very hard (if not even impossible) to keep a good work-life balance. Due to an understaffed team, individuals are required to work long hours to cope with the workload. It's "normal" to catch up on your tasks after hours or on weekends and "everyone does so". For the amount of work you do and the responsibilities you have, the pay is very low and not matching the industry average. There is no way to do... your job properly since you spend a lot of time fixing issues caused by wrong expectation settings from the Sales team or mismanaged product development. The company is very sales-focused and this makes working in a client support role frustrating. It seems to be more important to sell than to retain clients thus many people are not happy in the client service department because “sales” is more valued than “just” support. Furthermore rules are often blindly dictated by US management without understanding of the cultural differences and local market(s) withing countries outside the US. This goes for the whole company culture and includes the acknowledgement that working culture can be different elsewhere than in the US. The company forces you into a working commitment for a specific period of time with the excuse that they invest in your product training. You are "technically" not supposed to leave before that time period is over. At the same time the company does little to change the reasons why people are leaving.

    Advice to Management

Stop the blind growth of the company and start to listen to your employees to retain them.

I have been working at Cvent full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

good development team that is helpful and productive. Lots of room to grow and develop your career. Very flat hierarchy, most employees are comfortable talking directly to seniors and CEO about problems.

    Cons

Currently the UK is attached to the US too much and sometimes gets forgotten, we do get a platform to make ourselves known but only a few changes are made rarely.
